Re: MIG vs TIG where, when and why?
Thanks for all the replies and help. I've been to my local Praxair, AirGas, and a local independent shop. I looked into separate TIG and MIG machines, and multiprocess machines. I've settled on the Miller Multimatic 220. It will be in the local independent shop the middle of next week. Thanks for th...

Re: MIG vs TIG where, when and why?
Thanks for all the replies. The replies to my second question ruled out a multiprocess DC only machine. So what I'm down to is either the Miller Multimatic 220, ESAB Rebel 205 for the all in one machines. Or 2 separate macines, one ac/dc tig and one mig. The Miller 220 amperage for TIG goes down to ...

MIG vs TIG where, when and why?
I'm in the process of replacing my fluxcore machine and am exploring all my options (multiprocess ac/dc, seperate mig and tig machines, etc.). I've looked far and wide for answers to my questions and all I've found so far are opinions, nothing concrete and scientific. I'm in the process of restoring...

Re: Quick question on tig welding 18gauge body panels
I'm working on a cj5. I've been using Fitzee's Fabrication (youtube) cut and butt method. Check him out. He is a master panel beater with minimal tools. "Nuttin' Fancy" He only uses .023 wire.

Re: Respirator recommendations
I just ordered the ESAB Savage A40 and the Miller LPR-100 respirator. The Miller looked like it would fit under a helmet the best. I'll post here what I find.

Re: Respirator recommendations
I'm also looking for respirator recommendations. I'm looking for a respirator that will fit under my helmet. I'm looking to upgrade my Weldmark helmet to an ESAB savage A40. Any suggestions on a P100 respirator that will fit?

Re: Hobart Handler 125 and .023 wire
i would not use flux core on body panels.
I know, but it's the only welder I have. I'm trying to convince myself to spend the money for an ESAB 205i or the Millermatic 220. Spend once, cry once. It'll be the last welder I'll buy. I won't need anything else.

Re: Hobart Handler 125 and .023 wire
Nevermind. After I hit send, I realized they don't make .023 flux core wire. .030 is the smallest they make in flux core.

Re: Jeep in a box
Is this the same kit that Ian Johnson made on Fourwheeler on MotortrendTV? He did a 3 part series on the build of a kit jeep like that. It also might be on his youtube channel "Big Tire Garage".

Hobart Handler 125 and .023 wire
First time poster, long time lurker here. I'm in the planning stages of body work to a 1983 cj5. I currently have .030 wire in my Hobart Handler 125. If I want to switch to .023 wire for the bodywork (18ga), do I need to reline the torch? or can I just switch out the contact tips?
Thanks,
