Re: 6010
I am running a transformer machine Vulcan Commander AC DC 225/150. And its my rod that quits burning after a few seconds I'm trying to keep as short of an arc length as I can. I didn't clean the metal I was working on cause I was just running beads on it to see how it welds

6010
I just got some Lincoln Electric 6010 ++++ rods about 5lbs from the local welding shop they came in a 50lb tin and I tried welding with them yesterday and my arc was terminating while I was welding. I had an 1/8 in rod at 130 amps DCEP.

Re: New to Stick Welding
Im out of my 1/8th in 7018 but I think I was running them a little hot 130 amps DCEP, 3/32eds is all I have left usually I run them at 90 amps DCEP. Got to get some more 1/8th in 7018 and some 6010. by the way Is there any noticeable difference in 6010 vs 6011 besides running AC.

Re: New to Stick Welding
it sure took a while for this post to get up since I am new to the forum but its been since Christmas when I posted this article and I have had a little bit more practice with my stick welder and I can strike an arc easy now and keep it lit but I still suffer from wandering in the wrong direction bu...

Storing Welding Electrodes
I just have got a brand new AC DC stick welder and I am new to stick welding.
I have decided that I'm going to keep on hand 6010 and 7018 in 3/32 and 1/8 maybe some 5/32 but I know that the 7018 is the one that I need to keep out of the moisture.

New to Stick Welding
I recently acquired a Lincoln Electric AC 225 Stick welder its kind of beat up the dial is hard to move, I had to replace the ground clamp and the electrode holder when I first got it. 7018 AC and 6011 are the rods I have been using I have gotten one decent weld with a 7018 but I recently bought a 5...
