Re: Houston,Texas ******Start Today
Yeah, dont know about New Zealand but I woulda steered clear of a job ad like that, just from experience with how it sounded. Great explaination though, it gets frustrating finding good keen clean help. What sort gaurd is that? If its being ground do you have to tig? 100% inductance on a a short cir...

On second note that is quite a dark patch on the board. Does machine still have its magic smoke or some come out?
Hopefully it’s discolouration but that is usually brownish at worst. Any how check the easy stuff first.

Re: Pro Cut 55 Problem
Must fix fan.... If you have to tap it to start then check shroud, it has a copper ring which touches two pins. This needs to be spotless. Contact cleaner will work if the ring is still intact. Otherwise change shroud. Other than that it could be the trigger. If you unplug it and pull handpiece apar...

Re: Silicon Bronze Brazing
It is a bit of fun and handy skill to have. I find for me anyway, compared to tig welding tigbrazing is a bit low and slow and gets a bit quicker as filler melts. 1.6mm filler at 57 amps is ballpark for my welder on steel. If you have a pulse it comes up sweet. You will have to go hotter for copper ...

Re: Silicon Bronze Brazing
SIlicon Bronze brazing copper honestly sounds like an absolute nightmare let alone with mig. Copper is the king of heat conductivity and silicon bronze melts at very close to the same temperature pure copper does, so you'll basically be melting copper by the time you've heated it up enough to stick...

Re: First Mistake - New to TIG
1. Should I focus more on the puddle or on the heat-affected zone? I know the heat-affected zone probably has more to do with my travel speed than anything else. 2. Should I stick with one amp setting (either a lower or higher) and quit experimenting until I get more consistent? If so, is better to ...

Re: Silicon Bronze Brazing
As was mentioned the copper is not getting hot enough, can you use another process. Tig braze and especially gas brazing are better if you can. You might even get away with using the mapp gas torch, I do. just use flux with gas torch. Both of those are easier too. If you can do it with the tig it wo...

Re: stainless purging
Just thinking too, not everyone has a purge box lying around. I didnt, had to make one, An aluminium rhs or flats welded together, etc in whatever shape you need to make and just drill holes in it where you need them. A steel rhs would work too but keeping it from contaminating the job would be the ...

Hi Jeff, I think it is important not to stress too much about smaller things. Body position welding rythym etc is very experience based and your obviously picking it up. Once you get the torch angle, distance to work thing sorted everything else is sorta practice. One thing that I will mention from ...

Citric acid may work if you leave it long enough but not let it dry out. I have not tried it for pickling but it works enough for etch tests. Pickling paste is usually the go to though. I think its a matter of what the acid is actually doing and if citric would be strong enough. I think it would be,...

You make some interesting videos, it appears that a camera stand wouldnt hurt you. A bit of off camera prep would be helpful too. I noticed that you are stick welding inside, just keep in mind that those little spatter balls will get under anything and light it up. I personally would do it outside, ...

Re: Ok with 7018... not with 7014!
Too cold. Start at the top of the current range for the 7014s. In 2.5mm should be about 100amps and go 5 amps each adjustment to find sweet spot if 100 is too hot. 7018s will get going on low amps but not great welds. Bottom of range is a good start for vertical ups, may even need to go a touch lowe...

Hi mate, congrats on finishing soon. What do you want to do? What are your options, realistically? What aspects of welding are you good at or what aspects do you need to work on more? It depends on what you want vs can do vs options. I always try to challenge myself but not lose money doing it. Some...

Gee whiz, just so we know right, no matter the wheel you should only use half of it. For example if you have an imaginary line from lead, handle through centre of wheel i.e. top to bottom then only cut with the side that spins down on that side, often that's the difference between kick back and blad...

I use some Esabs, but they make great welders and some boat achors that are sold as welders. If you are not sure always go HTP or jasic. Features are just features some times but quality is important just my opinion

The case is not uber quality but will last you a heap of time. And will keep the welder immaculate in most conditions. I have the same case for my decade old rooter. It looks abit like the welder too. Just smurfed up a bit
If it is similar it will be bulletproof and accurate for many years.
