Re: European electrodes conversion chart
For what ever reason I cannot upload file link. But if you google lincoln electric consumables guide eu. You should find an explaination of the iso code system. ISO has got different designations than aws. But most countries still use aws and ignore ISO unless they need to use specific consumables o...

Did you say you bought 4?
Just curious as why 4? Did HTP make a quattro welder for mythical creatures who fabricate ?
They look good, the pot on the handle is interesting. Hopefully whoever picks them up can review them.

Hi semih, Did you change the insulator as well. Sometimes, most times, the standard insulator doesnt seal perfectly with gas lens cups. Especially with stubby setup. If you want to check for a leak purge gas through and then turn bottle off. Leave for a few mins to see if regulator pressure drops. I...

Re: Stel S300 on a 400V, 3-phase up-converting transformer
It causes a lot of smog and slag spray. Breathing protection is a must. It very difficult to keep the power source away from it all if you have a fair bit to do. We take covers off ours and blow them out fortnightly and a lot crap comes out. Rarely do you air arc without grinding so it can add up to...

Re: self-employment and certification renewal
I will start by saying that I am unsure as to wether you actually need certs to do the job. If you dont need it then get a cert to prove you can do the job, buyer confidence type thing and just dont recertify unless you need to. Certs are a great way to sort the pro from the hobbyist. Hobbyist are g...

Re: How inflated are local steel prices compared to online?
Id say keep it, but thats just me. Many thing are made in parts on smaller tables and put together. How not flat are we talking. Packers are usually fine. Two straight square tube or rect tube with help of a level, can extend a table nicely. A set of wheels to move it around can make it more useful ...

Yeah we know. Hence the not wanting to be bad news bear comment. It is obvious that it wasn't used much. I didn't know it was new........but...... a crack is a crack. What brand of bike. Some welding procedures can be different batch per batch. WPS are for the procedure, they don't make assumptions ...

I dont do politics or such but seeing as though this directly affects welding, here goes. You could make a tighter frame, my welding table is 4mm thick, it doesnt matter cause it has a tight frame. The crossmembers are close together out of rect sections and has no flex.
I only use it for precise kinda work. I have a nice concrete spot larger stuff,
Like trusses and jig making.

Re: Making 6010 run on inverter
Yeah and no. If your amps are close to great and weld builds up a little heat etc you can close the arc a bit, whats called smother the arc. Dont drown it just bring it closer, but if your amps are way out it not as effective. I wouldnt worry about that yet as beads wont need it. Except edges. I mea...

Re: MIG with Voltage and Current adjustment but no wire speed?
Depends on what you are welding 1.2mm flux core will go up to around 30volt. If you can keep up :) 2mm obviously higher. Solid wire a nudge more. I believe that wire feeder is a heavy industry shipbuilder, the knobs are so you set it well away from power source. Remotely. If yours is similar to that...

Q (of Qanon fame) has been hiding cryptic messages in the naming structure of TIG torch lines. All will become clear when Q drops the anon and rises to power, and the codes will become instructions and make perfect sense. My CK 17 air-cooled 3 series torch told me just the other day that I should g...

Thanks for the replies and suggestions :) I am wondering, why do they need 6010's high penetration for pipe welding? It seems most pipes are welded open root.. Couldn't any old electrode penetrate fully in this circumstance? Or is it this fast freeze business which part of the appeal? Cheers Good q...

9 17 26 etc number meaning.
Useless question, but, does anyone know what #17, #9, #20 etc actually mean?
And why 18 is a watercooled 17
But 20 is a WC 9?
Etc.

I tell ya what, this 6010 stuff is stroppy. I have been welding up a welding cart, and using 2.5mm box steel. Some of the fit up was.. shall we say.. sub optimal. When filling in the gaps, its such a balancing act to not make a massive key hole. I'm on about 35 odd amps, and if I don't get the righ...
