Re: 6010 that runs well and then...
Curious if you ever sorted the issue with the new rods? I tried them with a bigger machine; Miller Idealarc 250 HF... And it worked fine. I think that brand of rods needs higher voltage (CCV) to run. And I bought a new machine; Razorweld Razorarc 200 PFC... and it can run the rod! Not perfect, but ...

Re: 7018 Ac rods running erratically
I almost always run my 7018 at «0» arc force... I like the buttery smooth feel. So, in this case, that's not the cause... I am talking of an extreme reaction... for exemple, even with a pronounced drag angle, the puddle rushes in front of the rod! Never seen anything like it. what amps are you runn...

Re: 7018 Ac rods running erratically
i would start by turning down the arc force. AC rods will have a lower voltage requirement so you may need to set up the welder a bit different and also change your arc length a bit. Re: 7018 Ac rods running erratically
It sounds like you’re suffering from “arc blow”. You can search for solutions to that in Jody’s videos on his YT channel. Yes, great suggestion; but what puzzles me the most is that it's an ongoing arc blow... usually, you start your weld and at some point you start to get arc blow. In this case, t...

Re: 7018 Ac rods running erratically
Yes I do... Jasic Razorweld Razorarc 200 di.
It looks like an intense arc blow going on and on... I changed position and even pieces to weld; still behaving erratically...
AC rods should run ok on DC inverter; or maybe not always...

7018 Ac rods running erratically
I bought a box of Blueshield 7018 rods (Air Liquide house brand). Not much info on packaging. I tried to run the rod, and boy, it was as if my welding table was a big magnet: the puddle was travelling front and back and side to side... never seen anything like it! I checked on the rod and it is labe...

Re: 6010 that runs well and then...
I don’t think your machine will run 6010 reliably. Most small inverters won’t. I know that it is advertised that is will run them, but it lacks the DIG control and Hot Start feature that most decent stick boxes have for 6010. I’d suggest switching to 6011 or 6013 rods and stop futzing about. Those ...

Re: 6010 that runs well and then...
try the old wet rod trick. wet a rod, let it dry out on the bench and then run it. this is because moisture in the cellulose is a major part of the rods action. sometimes they can be to dry and not have enough action to keep them lit. also double check you didn't get the leads around the wrong way....

6010 that runs well and then...
I have an Esab Lts 161 inverter... In the description, it states that it can run 6010 (80 volts OCV, notably). I bought a one pound of 3/32 Blue Demon 6010—as a test—, used them, and they were excellent... So I decided to buy a 5 pounds box of the «same» rods; ouuuuuuuh! Not working well... Even wit...

Generator question
I looked at the specs of my welder — Thermal Arc 141i — and it says that I need a 5 or 6 Kw generator to run it off grid. Since this one has a PFC module, do I need an inverter generator? Or can I get away with the more common ones? Thanks!

Welding mask and batteries
I'd like to know what is the better way to save batteries when the hood is not in use: grind mode? Cause mine has a little flashing light to indicate that I am in grind mode (to avoid being flashed); not sure if it is the right way to store my helmet... Thanks very much.

Re: 3/32 6011 comparison: Forney, Blue Demon
The recommended amperage for the Forney 6011 is 25-75. I used them around 50. No problem to light em, the arc is consistent, but like I said, the flux burns unevenly, ending with a pointy bevel like tip... Never had such a problem with other electrodes... I might crank up the amperage and see... or ...

3/32 6011 comparison: Forney, Blue Demon
I did compare those 2 on my Esab 161LT... They work fine, except that the Forney had the flux coating burn unevenly... becoming bevel like (like the silicon tube tip that you cut at an angle). I tried the Lincoln Fleetweld on another machine, was also going fine, without that sort of issue. Why is t...

Select arc 700GS and ... corrosion?
I'd like to use Select arc 700GS for thin sheet metal... seems to work fine. I've heard that if you do not clean the weld slag outside and INSIDE (for a car body panel for exemple), it might conduct to premature corrosion. The thing is, sometimes, it's hard to access the inside panel. I also know th...

Re: Looking for a machine... found it!
Very good indeed! I can weld with very low amperage with a consistent arc! I am very surprised. Can't wait to do some more test... I also had a surprise when I received the welder; full of dust, bad receptacles, bad connectors, etc. Once I took care of it, everything worked flawlessly... I bought it...

Re: Looking for a machine... found it!
I found a very, very good deal on an ESAB Miniarc 161 lts... Runs all the rods that I need, including 6010 in a portable unit... I'll let you once I have tested it thoroughly... Thanks for the reply.

Re: HTP InverArc 160 Plus DV - Dual-Voltage Stick/TIG welder
You mean the Esab Rogue 180i... Yeah, seems like a great machine, just more expensive though... The HTP interarc 160 is just 499$. On Ebay, I can certainly get a Rogue 180i for about that amount of money from Dublin Ireland. It is still a dual voltage but I do not know why they would need it in UK. ...

Re: HTP InverArc 160 Plus DV - Dual-Voltage Stick/TIG welder
Seems pretty good indeed... I tried to check on their website and its's there but I am arriving on a «page not found». Can you tell us how much you paid for this one?
Good to know it can run 6010 decently... It is hard to figure these days — which one will, based on specs...

Re: The arc is cut with electrodo 6011
My Thermal Arc 141i won't run 6011 either... I tried with Blue Demon 3/32 and the experience confirmed the manufacturer's warning... But I tried Fleetweld 180 6011 3/32 and they worked okay...

Looking for a machine... found it!
I am looking for a stick welder, dual voltage, portable (sub 20 pounds), with an arc force adjustment... 160 amp, 200 amp max out... I am not a big fan of the cheap chinese welder — I bought one and it went back to the source as soon as I received it... I am looking for something middle of the road,...
