Lead welder say they look fine….but obviously not getting through all the way….try to keep a 5deg drag angle and going at a 45….maybe I’m angling back more than I think and piling back into the puddle more than I think? Maybe should try putting a bit more focus down into the back bar than going righ...

3/8 steel plate - 1/4 backing bar fcaw-g settings?

I’m running 25.5 V & 335 WFS on 3/8 1gf with a 1/4 backing bar and having some issues getting consistent penetration? Tried running it @ 26.5v & 365 wfs but was also having problems getting through? Eventhough it looked like it was going in good, maybe my travel speed/gun angle/stick out is ...

Yeah makes sense….i forgot to mention the all important part, that for this particular test (cwb 1gf) no metal removal is allowed, only a wire wheel etc… both techniques have worked for “passing”, but think I’ll stick with stepping back into it….just fear trapping slag is all… Thanks for the respons...

What are y’alls techniques for tie ins (stops/re-starts) for Fcaw-G?
