Re: Adapter cord for Lincoln V160T?
That plug in the pic is I think a 50 amp plug. The 'D' shaped lug is the ground. Dont get a cheap 110v plug, get one that clamps the wire with 'grippers' when assembled. 15 and 20 amp outlets accept the same plugs. I would recommend using #12 wire. My (ex) father-in-law was an electrical contractor ...

Re: What Exactly Is Lift Arc???
On my thermal arc pro wave 185, in lift tig mode, you step on the pedal, touch where you want to start weld, and when you lift, the arc starts. When you touch, the machine recognizes this, apparently there is a very small current passing, (not too technical of an explanation eh?) it works tho, , , -...

I saw a bumper sticker that said: Union Welders do it in All Positions

Re: Thoughts On The Thermal ARC 185 TIG ???
I dont know if thermal arc is better, but I bought one a few years ago (through the company I was working for at the time) and I really like it. After learning the TIG, (TIG is "almost" better than sex!) I havent stick welded anything in 4 years. Everything works as advertized, But the man...

Re: Can someone clean up the Spammers crap?
Some info about another site. I post on another site where we occasionally (now) get this sort of junk. What the site administers did was, they stopped ANYONE from registering with gmail addresses. I noticed on a few there is a 'google.ru' link. gOOGLE is getting out of hand, and I use @hotmail now....

Re: Lincoln Power Mig 140c or Lincoln ProMig 180
I just (1 mo ago) bought a "Lincoln power mig 180" welder. One of my bros has a (older) lincoln 125 amp wire feeder welder, and another has a older miller about the same. I never realized how slick those things are! I went with the lincoln 'cause that bro, his son actually, used to be a we...

Re: Harbor freight 2 ton shop crane
I bought one of these about 6 tears ago to pull the (6.2l diesel, the heaviest one) motor from my Blazer, and it worked just fine. They must have gone and cheapened them since, mine has all four cast iron wheels and SOLID casters. I dont use it much, it just sits there most of the time. As I recall,...

Third post here, since April. I check in regularly tho. My brothers and myself are building a rolling gate (on 1" angle iron track). It is 12' 6" long and 55" high (on 5" box with wheel). They 'decided' to make it of 2x2x3/16" stock and it weighs a ton . I think if a car run...

Lookin' for a little advice
I have finally read all posts here before asking questions. About my experience: no one actually showed me how to arc weld (or gas weld either), I bought a used 'Miller Thunderbolt' and a used completetorch setup in 1970 after I got out of the service (USAF). I paid about $300 bucks for everything t...

New Here
Hi! I'm new here (registered, that is, I've lurked a bit). I have finally retired and am getting serious about getting 'good and better' at TIG welding. About 4 years ago I bought a 'Thermal-arc' 185 package through the company I worked for at the time, everything but an argon bottle. I had (still h...
