Re: Got Rod?

I haven't used many types of rods before. I have used the ones I mentioned. We shall see. Just wanted a few to test the welder and do a couple things on my trailer. In for a penny in for a pound as they say.

Re: Two TIG Machines...One Argon Bottle ???

The pressure would be the same on each side of the Y. It would work just like a T joint in a water line. No problem. Run one hose to each machine and your away to the races. There is no need to but you could put a small shut off on each side. Personally I think it would be a waste of time. Both mach...

Ya keep going buddy. Jody is a welding god so don't compare your stuff to his. Keep going and be proud you did it and got it to bind to the pipe. I am sure I would have trouble with it too. Good on ya man.

cleaning and maintanance?

Just wondering what you guys do to clean and maintain your tig machines? Reason I am asking is the tig at work is sitting on the floor beside the welding booth. I have a welding table built into an air extraction booth. The exhaust from the extractor comes out right beside the tig. Then behind me th...

SS sheet metal

I am wondering how you guys get your ss welds to look so shiny. My welds look decent but they are dull no shine at all. I run my argon at about 15 so that there is no turbulance. I have to run now look forward to hearing.

Well I am there through a temp agency but they said that once the contract is due they are going to negotiate a higher pay for me. She told me no way that they should be paying for a welder at the rate I am getting now. I am expecting a 10 to 15% boost next month. Yay

Certification question. Tig SS and Brass

I only weld Out side corners on stainless steel and brass. Only on items that are used for surface mounts on a wall. I doubt that I will ever need certification but would it be worth it? I am in Canada and would be governed under the Welding Certification Board. They are the national certification B...

Got the brass down pat guys Whoo Hoo. I will post some pics later but What I did was switch over to A/C with full Penetration. I managed to get the top edges of the metal melt into the weld and just poured in the brass filler rod into the gap. I was so stoked to have it happen. The base metal was 12...

Re: Argon gas pressure regulator sticking

Not likely they are all in the office with their heads up their rear ends. I took a piece of wire and attached it to the top of my welding booth. I hang my gun off that wire so it doesn't hit anything. Thats for my Tig Gun but it would work for a mig gun too.

Electrode Negative is when the whip or the electrode is charged with a negative polarity. The ground from the machine carries the power to the work piece in that instance. Essentially the power would go from the work to the electrode. Electrode Positive is when the whip or Electrode would have the p...

Might be an over kill for that thin metal. Can you get a smaller rod? I would think the heat you would need would burn right through that metal. Smaller rod less heat. Would be better I think.

Re: Miller Sycrowave 200 Or Lincoln 225 Precision Tig ???

I am using the 225 at work right now. I love that machine it works really well. After fine tuning the controls and getting used to the foot peddle I was able to get really nice welds out of it. I haven't used any other machine but if I had the money I would look at one of those for sure.

Re: Acetone, Alcohol, Thinner.

If you have a farmers coop store around they may have acetone. Do a google search for farm supplies in your area. That my give you a good source if you cannot find it any where else. Also a decent hardware store should be able to order it in for you.
