Re: Welder Burn on the chest?
Ok so just in case I won't be adding any snaps to mine wow. Here in Ontario Canada workers always like to put stickers on their lid skids. Personal statements and things. Stickers from the union companies they worked for their names things like that. One year the Ministry of Labour got it in their h...

Welder Burn on the chest?
You know that triangle burn you can sometimes get on the bottom of your neck or top of your chest? I got around it this way. I had an old set of leathers that were worn out more from sitting around. So I cut a rectangle out and got some velcro tape on the bottom edge of the helmet. I cut it the widt...

Re: welding helmet, what do you use?
I have the miller elite wide angle and love it. I have used it for tig stick mig everything. I put a small piece of leather along the bottom to prevent that little triangle welder burn on my chest. I will put a thread in the tips and tricks or welding info area about it.

Re: What's everybody's favorite self shielded flux core wire
We have had a lot of problems with the Lincoln flux core shorting out in the shield lining. It shorts out and will stick. Won't let it continue feeding through. Has anyone noticed that with the Forney? Maybe its my buddies machine. He has a small lincoln 180 mig/ flux core machine running on 40 amp ...

.023 mig wire.
That's what I got with that machine I bought. Just wondering if anyone has worked with it. Its the smallest I have seen but I have never worked with it. Is it something to use with really thin metal on low settings? Seams to me that you would go through a pile of it to weld anything over 26 gauge sh...

Re: Oxygen/Acetylene Safety please chime in
Its always sad to see an accident that would have been prevented if someone said wait this doesn't look or feel safe. A company pulling crap like that here in Ontario would be bankrupt from law suites and fines for negligence. Plus the owners and supervisors would have been personally fined big time.

Shipping on those sites are most of the time ridiculous at best. Sometimes I wonder for the shipping costs if its cheaper to order new from Chapters. I will take a look for those books thanks for posting them guys.

Re: Pipe Cutting to match another pipe?
Thats a great idea. There is a lot of info and sites that are shared. I find that info like that gets lost in the piles after a while. Nast z28.com does that with all the little tutorials and site tips they get. I have asked them to put that site in their tips area as well as Jody's video it came off.

Pipe Cutting to match another pipe?
Jody had a site to make a template to cut the end of a pipe so it matched at a joint. Anyone have that site? Can you post it and sticky it in a useful tips thread or something?

Re: Replacing my stick lead
I have a twist handle on mine. I like them myself. Its working good for now. I don't really need to change it out. If I had too I think I would go with a tweeco. I think they are the most popular and if you need parts easy to get.

Let the sparky make that call he can tell just by looking at the machine. Its the safest way to do it.

Re: TIG vs Gas
Using batteries for this is dangerous at best. I agree that you should take a welding course and learn what you need there then save yourself from buying anything that won't do what you want. Stainless and aluminium are almost the same process. You could even register with a local high school and se...

Re: ESAB Smashweld 180 Thoughts?
Ok so I think I figured out what has happened to this welder. The wire that is on it looked really small to me. I mean almost half the size of the wire I am used to. I think its actually .023. I'm wondering if they used the proper sized liner in the whip. I looked way to big from what I know about t...
