I see a lot of welding job ads asking for CWB

I though that you could only get CWB certification for the process that you are working on? For an employer. Its the process you learn while working for a period of time and then the employer gets you the certification for that process? Is that wrong? I have been a bit confused by that. Its how the ...

Re: Battery?

I always unhook the battery on a vehicle I am welding on. Why take a chance at burning out the boards in the car? Its a simple thing to do. Why not prevent damage. Seams pretty stupid not too.

Using a 50 Amp welder on a 40 Amp breaker?

Will this cause any problems? I know that if I used it in a much higher range that it could over heat the circuit. I don't turn it up over 50% of its capacity and I haven't had any problems with the welds, I suppose the breakers would pop if I was over loading the circuit right? The feed from the ho...

Never ever ever put a tank of any kind across the forks of a lift. If it ever got hit or rolled off bang the explosion would take an entire building out.

Saw a guy dong that in a huge warehouse we were renovating. Guys could hear me yelling at me from the other side of the building.

I registered to it but they want you to go to 2 seminars and say you can go to 2 for 199 but charge you 119 for each one of the ones I would want. Sorry I would like to go but can't at that price.

Re: Acetelyne steel welding

Acetylene welding is an art form to me too. Very akin to tig welding. I used to do that all the time in high school and haven't done it since. I have not tried it with propane have any of you? I need to get an oxygen tank and I will try it. I have all the torches and it would be interesting to try.

Re: Bending the Electrode

Great thread I bend the rod in the holder just to get an angle for a proper weld. I wouldn't have thought to actually put a curve in the rod to get to the back of a weld project. That is cool. I will have to give that a try.

Need ideas to secure a propane tank outside.

I have a 100 pound propane tank and you can't store it inside. Against the law. People break into cages to steel metal and batteries to recycle. Happened to the garage on the corner. He had a steel cage with expanded metal grating. They cut through the grating and stole all his old batteries. I want...

Settings chart for MIG? and Fluxcore

Just wondering if anyone knows of a chart for the settings needed for various thickness of metal for a lincoln mig 180 welder? We are having a few little problems dialing in the machine. I have no problem with thicker metals but sheet metal and thinner metal just can't seem to get it dialed in for t...
