Re: Aluminum Filler Rod Uses???

Use the 5056 if you are gonna have the welded piece anodized. Any other filler will turn black. Found that out the hard way. The real hard way.

Try posting this over at the weldingweb. There are a lot of people that know how to service machines and there are specific categories for equipment.

I am looking forward to hearing what the problem is.

Re: Syncrowave Problem?

Hmmm,

Do you know if distilled water or coolant only has been used in the water cooler? Because when regular water is used in them it can cause several problems especially with constant current. Calcium and other minerals can build up in the power line.

Other then that, I am stumped

What size tungsten are you using? It can happen if the tungsten is to big.

Are you using a water color?

Re: UA 21 and UA 41 pipe welding tests

Karir, what trade you in? Are you a pipe liner? Did you enter through the provisional journeymen program? Im not sure I would ever want to be a pipe liner cause I dont want to leave my family for long periods of time. But I do want to set up a welding rig and be done with my fab shop. Im wondering, ...

Re: [SS] Beginner here, need help/tips (PICS inside)

The welds are contaminated, looks like not enough shielding gas. Could be several things. The ones that come to mind are not enough or too much shielding gas. Or too much Torch angle. Too long of an arc. Wrong shielding gas. What kind of gas ya using? I use pure argon, 75-25 will contaminate the wel...

Re: Any reviews? welder/ generator Burco MPM 165

Those little Burco's ROCK!!! I could never figure out why they didnt catch on in the US. Where did you find it? The one I used to have you couldn't use the aux power cause it was 210 European electric. It wouldn't run the tools. If you get one just watch out for the duty cycle. If you can plug in wh...

Re: gas lense

Oh yeah man, 3". ya gotta use one of those really wide dia cups though. Long and wide then ya can go really deep....MMMM penetration! The scotch bright pad is unaffected really. Cause the heat is all down at the end of the tungsten. Though it will start melting around the tungsten when you have...

Cool, thanks. Do they make you bevel the pipes and fit up the test coupons? Do you have to set up your own back purge for the SS work? Another big question, are you working, and what do you do if you dont mind me asking? I haven't had a chance to set up the practice test coupons. Im hoping to get ca...

An extra diffuser does work really well for 'reaching'. I have never used that gas lens but Im gonna guess in front to the left. I used to weld a lot with one that was similar. I used a (I cant remember what number cup) 1-1/2 cup. Ten I cut a piece of clean scotch-brite pad the dia. of the cup so th...

Re: Consistent quality butwelding this alu sheet

Hmmm, wish I could see it happening. At first thought though I suppose it could be some form of steel contamination or maybe even a tungsten inclusion.

If you move off of the hole and continue does it happen again?

Can you post a picture?

Its all about what the machine draws. Im not sure what an econo-tig draws but apparently yours isnt drawing over thirty amps. If the breaker isnt getting hot enough to trip you may be drawing only around twenty amps. You may be good.

Re: Opinions of my welding(Across the pond)

Look at the machine and see if it has a crater time function. If it does It should have an on off switch and a dial to adjust the amount of crater time you want. Then when you dial back on the finger controller until it is off hold the torch still at the end of the weld and it will taper off and fil...

Re: Opinions of my welding(Across the pond)

Welds look great. The only thing I would ask is, why dont the welds go the whole width of the tube. Is there a reason they stop short? As far as the crater. You can set the crater time if that option is on your machine. The crater time will start when you let the pedal off completely and it will tap...
