Re: Digital display problem on Lincoln V160-T

I've decided to just replace the welder. I was originally going to go with a V205T, but I think I'm going to go Blue this time around. I've been wanting a welder with AC for a while anyway, so this is just another excuse that I need to justify the purchase. Do you know of any killer deals on a Dynas...

Re: Digital display problem on Lincoln V160-T

I studied the manual online. Try disconnecting the pedal, and set it up to operate it in lift-arc, and see if your amp setting reads the preset. Something I read suggests that if the switch in your pedal is closed, but no force is on the pedal, it may read "zero" amps. This could be as si...

Re: Digital display problem on Lincoln V160-T

Steve, Thanks for the reply. I do have the manual, but there is no mention of a default reset. The 2t and 4t is switchable via a toggle on the front. The problem persists on either setting. I also tried the hand trigger instead of the foot pedal, and I tried a different 220v power outlet and 110v VS...

Digital display problem on Lincoln V160-T

I fired up my welder yesterday for the first time in a couple weeks, and I noticed the digital display reads zero no matter where the dial is set. Turning the dial still seems to properly change the amperage output, but I cannot see what it's set to until I strike an arc. While welding, the display ...

Re: Adapter cord for Lincoln V160T?

Thanks again for the help everyone.
I bought everything last night and put together two extension cables.
I used 12-gauge and made the 15-ft adapter from 110v to 220v. And I made a regular 220v 15-ft extension cable using 10-gauge. I spent almost $100 on materials, but I did get nice stuff.

Re: Adapter cord for Lincoln V160T?

Otto Nobedder - Thanks for your help in this thread. I have a paper copy of the manual, but I completely overlooked the page referencing duty cycle and output using a 15a plug.

Re: Adapter cord for Lincoln V160T?

115 V plugs are available in 15A and 20A. You have a more restricted duty cycle when operating on 115V. You will encounter 15A outlets far more often when afield. Some 20A outlets will accept either 15 or 20A. Dedicated 20A outlets will only accept a 20 plug. The 15A plug offers you the most versit...

Re: Adapter cord for Lincoln V160T?

Wouldn't the 115V plug also have to be 30-amp?

(Sorry, I'm a bit of an electrical noob)

Adapter cord for Lincoln V160T?

Hello all, I recently picked up a gently used Lincoln V160-T. The machine is 115/230V capable and judging from Lincoln's website, the power cord originally came with a 115v plug. It seems that the previous owner has cut it off and connected a 230v plug. I plan to utilize both voltages depending wher...
