Re: tig tack failure

I don't think its likely to be titanium useless it very highend race bike. Titanium cost a ton and welding it is not cheap. If if is titanium you can't weld it to stainless. You m ight be able to braze them if its titanium to SS not sure. My guess is you are probly dealing with either two different ...

I talked to my work earlier they had no problem with me wearing darker tint indoors. I could only imagine how bad a 5/8 carbon would hurt. I know the one time I was welding 1 inch al all day and it reflected up in my helmet my eyes wear swelled shit for two days. It sounds like I will be getting som...

Re: welders flash

I think I just have really sensitive eyes. My buddy can stare at my arc at 300 amps and nothing happens, yes I know he is dumb but his choice I warned him. Portable screens are not practical because a lot of times we are inside these tanks and vats. I have a new Miller helmet but I don't like to wea...

Hey guys been awhile since I posted just been really busy travleing. So I just got flash burned for the third time and I am only 25. I want to try to avoid this from happening again. Obviously I know not to look at the arc but I work in the food and dairy industry building tanks, vats, piping and ca...

Re: Melting Tungsten Aluminiun Tig

My guess is that the clean area width would be the, same as your AC balance. Play with that setting. Pure toungstens work fine on inverters but 2 percent lanthanated tungstens work good to. Also make sure you are using the right size tungstens roentgen amps you are using. Using a smaller tungstens th...

Re: frequency control...

The video you are thinking of was, when Jody welded some 1 inch thick aluminum and used the lower freq to get more heat into the part so he could weld it. I really like the lower frequency for for almost everything, outside corner joints and butt welds especially. There is some times where being able...

Re: Flattening down aluminum weld beads?

I am not to familiar with the metric system. But basically as long as your joint fit up is good, a true corner to, you should be fine. When I am,welding a outside corner that is going to be ground I make my welds convexed so all you are really doing when grinding is simple smoothing out your coins i...

Re: Aluminum bead issues

The boat prop one was a build up job and those jobs you tend to have to go slower and colder cause your goal is to not really penetrate but build more material.

Re: Aluminum bead issues

Ya you can do that as well. I think Jody used 125 or 140 amps if I remember right on his.full penetration butt welds for 1/8 aluminum, that should give you a.nice slow and steady pace. One thing to they may help you is I noticed you are using 1/16 filler. You might want to try to.go up to 3/32 till ...

Re: Aluminum bead issues

Is the white stuff floating inside the puddle or just on the finished weld? If it's in the puddle make sure your wipe the material with acetone. To me it looks like you are welding to slow and the cleaning action of the machine is etching your weld brad, 75.amps is extremely low for 1/8 inch aluminu...

Re: Aluminum Woes...Extremely Annoyed

Very true Jeff I own both a syncrowave and a dynasty and have welded in shops with both and really it's up to the welder to make the weld. I guess the biggest advantage of the inverter to me is the adjustable frequency it does make certain things easier mostly on really thin t joints.

One thing that may help as well is to make the one piece taller, with it being that small it will easy become hear saturated..for someone learning using bigger pieces to practices is always easier because you don't have to be as quick and precise with your amperage changes, once you get comfortable ...

His machine the fan will run for about twenty minutes after done welding and it has shut off on me sev...

Re: Flattening down aluminum weld beads?

Grinding down outside corners does work well as long as you are careful and do not "flatten" or remove to much of the fillet. Same goes for t and lap joint just becareful not remove to much of the fillet.

Re: problem with syncrowave 200 digital

What I meant by not getting full amps was with the machine set to 200 I would only actually get 180 to 130 amps at full pedal. I will asIk about the breakers. syncrowaves are great machines I have a 300 in.net shop at home but mine is water cooled. The fan on his machine runs, almost constantly. Coul...

Re: Flattening down aluminum weld beads?

Grinding weld on any material will remove strength, this why it is not done in critical applications. If you are going to do it on aluminum a bevel greatly helps as well as.having full penetrations if allowed,.if it's not allowed, you will definitely want a bevel otherwise your weld will most likely...

Re: Help on my 304 SS welding, looks awful

it depends on your machine. On miller welders you set your amperage on your machine and just use the pedal. So if o set the machine to 200 and use use half pedal I am using 100 amps. I have seen on the longevity welders that once you plug the pedal in it acts as your amperage control. So if you set ...

Re: New job doesn't want cleaning of aluminum

I did experience this in my first welding shop. Now I never tried to wire brush anything because it was kept indoors and usually did not have a lot oxides but there was a lot f oils, grinding dust on the material. How I handled it was how many parts there were and what the weld criteria was. Some of...

Another thing is I like to dip with silcon bronze vs leaving the rod in the puddle just to make sure I am not just laying the silcon on top of the material and bonding.
