Re: Is this a good welder?

Corey, I also say spend the extra for a quality welder. I see your not that young, your profile says 31, so if your serious and going to school for welding make the investment. You should also see if you qualify for any school discounts. The Hobart mentioned does look like a sweet machine and it loo...

Re: .030 vs .035 in my MIG

In my opinion I wouldn't run the .035 flux core in your machine. It would be pushing it to the limit for any extended welding and the heat would not be constant when it is nearing the end of the duty cycle. Why push it just to save a couple bucks. Use the lightest flux core when needed or better yet...

Re: New Here-What MIG machines are you guys running?

Ted, I always enjoy learning about different products especially when they're not always the old stand by. As for my mig, personal use is a Lincoln sp130 bought new over 15years ago and still going strong and best used with solid .025 wire. The other mig I own is a Century 180 now owned by Lincoln t...

Re: Brazing?

I agree 100% with the last 2 replies. Brazing would make for an unsafe trailer. I would oxy. acc. weld before brazing. No I am not recommending that either. I agree with renting a welder or prepping the whole job and barter with someone that is a good welder to do it. I've helped out many of my loca...

Re: Air.....Oxy/Acetylene Lines???

Hello, Yes I have owned and used my Weldreel Mod.OA-A Made by United Specialties Inc. EL. Dorado, Arkansas for over 30 years in every one of my service trucks and it has worked flawlessly. It holds about 50 ft. of 3/8" hose and I added an extra 15' of 1/4' whip line. I bought it used for $25 an...

Re: Eastwood Welding Equipment?

Brandy, If you are looking for another alternative, I would check into Everlast Welders. I have bought 3 products from them in the last 1 1/2 years and had very good support and info from their rep. Mark. I bought the 250EX tig welder, matching cooler and a powerplasma 50 plasma cutter. Never a majo...

Re: Cap Passes

Reading the comments about contacts and welding here is my take and solution. In 1996 in my mid 40's I had to use cheater lenses and reading glasses.(Pain in the Butt) I then went for my first ever eye exam and found I was ready for glasses. I also inquired about contacts telling the doc that I weld...

Re: Plasma Machine ???

I recomend looking into the Everlast Power Plasma 50 with blow back start, this does not have high freq. start. I paid under $600 from Everlast through make an offer on EBay. I've owned and used mine now for over a year and it has been great! I've cut 5/8" steel cutting edges VG and all the 1/2...

Re: Opinion on Everlast welders?

I have owned my Everlast 250Ex and used it for over a year now and am very pleased. I also purchased the cooler to match this past winter and the only problem I had was to adjust the flow for the coolant. I've so far done enough side jobs with it to almost cover half of my investment. So my opinion ...

Re: Everlast Stinger

Throw it out! I got the same one on the Everlast 250Ex I purchased. Buy the same style Made by Bernard from your local weld shop and put it on. Better yet put on a regular spring clamp type on your machine and take the new Bernard, add 6' of cable with a heavy copper flat lug wrapped with a piece of...

Plasma cutting

To all Welders and Jody Using a plasma cutter for portable use, what kind of compressed gasses can be used out of a tank in place of a compressor? O2, CO2, Argon Nitrogen? … Which ones would you definitly not use? And why? How long do you think an 80 or 125cf tank would last, say at 100psi Thank you....
