the only "stack-o-dimes" i have ever been able to get is from using GTAW ... didnt jody do a piece about "stacking dimes with GMAW" recently?

i have a Lincoln idealarc 150 and i shield it with C02.... and i havnt come across anything yet that i cant mig with it....that reminds me i have i slight exhaust leak on my header that i should be fixing instead of in here fooling around with yall......

well.....ill be running .035 thru a spool gun and the aluminum i have no idea no do i think they do....their best welder says he still burns holes in stuff every day....personally i think i could do a better job of this type of weld with a torch and some hand fed filler wire but wth do i know i just...

so now that i can get back on the board....I GOT A JOB!!!!!! .... its not the one i want but im welding.... spool gunning aluminum did i do that in school?... NO but their gonna teach me how to do it....thats a MIG process right?

im a Miller guy (being thats all we had at the school i went to so its a biased comment) but i crossed paths with a Lincoln idealarc 150 for a song (a price i count refuse) and after having burned a roll here at the ole homestead i see no difference between the Miller i used in school and this Linco...

well...i managed to pull it off .... by god it was the ugliest weld i have ever seen and i blew a hole out at the top of it and that got "overlooked" ... im still puzzled by my ability to run corner joints and butt joints on ally overhead but when it comes to "T"s and laps i fall...

in the school i am enrolled in it is a part of the advanced classes only. Mild steel is the standard course. Ally is the last of all the courses so needless to say i have but a week to finish it. I had success on my first 2 overhead projects, a padded plate and a lap, now i have to do an outside cor...

we were taught, in order, mild steel stainless steel then aluminum now in hindsight i wish it were the other way around now in school when im all flustered from an ally weld thats driving me nuts i grab a piece of ss and run a few beads.... but it is what it is

<<<< student in tech school also just finishing up GTAW on alloys ... i shut my tank down first the hit my power switch on and off a couple times (no more than three) and the ball drops. i dont know the reason why but thats what i have to do and it works.....

i am sticking with it and i do at this point see the troubles he speaks of but i would rather while still in school get some hands on than to be in the work force and have the boss man say "hey you rookie go run me a lap joint up under that ...." and never have done anything overhead.....P...

will this work in vertical uphill and or overhead?.... i did something kinda like that on flat and horizontal with out the grinding....but yes teach will let me machine the work piece however i see fit

right now my troubles are this.....lap joints......and my trouble is in dialing the machine in i can get a puddle started on the top but not the bottom so i get on the peddle a bit more and get the bottom started then the top blows out ok change torch angle blow the top out and no puddle on the bott...
