Re: Chemical reactions
Normally for something like this I would use drill rod for strength, but it would be subject to watered down latex paint almost everyday and i'm sure that would rust out, thus the choice of brass. Thanks! Other Steve Steve, Disclaimer: I'm not a chemist, but I do have some experience in chemistry a...

Re: Multiplaz-3500 Evaluation, Part 02
<snip> Multiplaz-3500 cutting torch uses about 250 mL/hr of liquid water when cutting at maximum power. If we assume that this is vaporized to an average temperature of about 1000 degrees Celsius in the plasma and shielding gas, this results in about 400 cubic centimeters of water vapor per second ...

Re: LA local supplies. online supplies
Hi there, Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. With all the effort that you may have to go to, That 15- 20 dollar shipping might be worth it. Mick lol! Yeah, well, that came to mind! And it might be worth. I'm not at all familiar with Fournier--which is why I posted the link to them--and...

Re: LA local supplies. online supplies
Hi, I would try to contact the accual manufacturer. They should be able to give you a list of suppliers . Mick Yes, Jackson has a list on the web page, but it's not specifically for welding--I drove by a local one the other day and it was general construction--no help. I suppose I should call them....

Re: LA local supplies. online supplies
Since you're searching "online", you can leave out the word "online". Try searching "Welding lenses", "AO welding lenses", or other words that actually say what you're looking for. How about "Lenses for welding aluminum"? The search engines are smar...

LA local supplies. online supplies
Hi all, I tried to search for "online supplies" here and got a msg that the words were too common! I'm in Northeast Los Angeles/Highland Park/Glendale/Pasadena area and would like a suggestion or two. The local shop I was going to, Gordy's, is out of business. Some online stores would be n...

to the nozzle, less when close to the workpiece?) With the 2.5KW input current you use in your example, I would expect significant heating in the filler material, which, of course, is not 0 ohms, and a significant disruption of the power transfer in the plasma stream from the workpiece to the fille...

Re: Anyone heard of this? Multiplaz
I've been doing more research on the MultiPlaz welder/cutter. They are not the first to invent this technology. It has been around for a while but they were the first to make a small, portable, self-contained welder/cutter that uses no air compressor or gas cylinders. The device is very unique and ...

Re: Anyone heard of this? Multiplaz
Many of our mothers and grandmothers welded Al with OA during WWII. Think P-51 fuel tanks. "Rosie the Riviter" was alliterative, but didn't begin to describe the skills women took on during the war. It's like riding a bicycle. You're going to fall on your face a few times, but once you've...

Re: Anyone heard of this? Multiplaz
There are two modes of welding with this machine. The first, is a sort of flame welding similar to oxy/acetylene welding. The second, is called mode II, when you are performing an arc weld while using the mode I, as a shielding gas. This is very similar to TIG welding but without any tungsten. Than...

Re: Anyone heard of this? Multiplaz
Thanks Steve, my reflex is about the same about claims like the muliplaz. I should have searched first here. Interesting discussion, will read the rest soon. I just ordered an Everlast SC50--a hobbyist plasma, but I'm a hobbyist. I have done some stick welding in a boiler room, tho. Long time ago. I...

Anyone heard of this? Multiplaz
Hi all, When I opened one of Jody's newsletters this ad popped up in Google. I normally ignore them but it was welding related. I've never heard of them and wonder is anyone is familiar with it? Basically it does everything, cuts, welds, replaces an oxy torch, sounds too good to be true, and I didn'...
