I tried having the tip stick out by a sixteenth. No joy for me- melted two tips in short order. I am learning to weld and don't have the control to maintain even wire stick out. Had to go back to a sixteenth-eighth inside of the nozzle.

Many thanks Gents. With your suggestions, I've gone from a squiggle around the tube to a ring. Still need work but I'm well ahead of where I was as far as having a workable procedure.
