Re: any burn prevention suggestions?

I'm fairly confident that the fingerprints have grown back to original (or CSIS would have brought me in for questioning). Because of my airline work, I have to apply for fingerprinting, retina scanning and background checks on a regular basis. ===== WerkSpace. Unfortunately welding could alter two...

MrKil. After my first day of quick tack welding that mesh without a mask, then looking at my face in the mirror, it was amazing how many new quint wrinkles I had around my eyes. LucasDsmith.

You might consider adding about six foot of flex cable between the electrode holder and the end of your original cable.

Re: Lincoln buzzbox repair, in need of advice

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and would really appreciate an experienced welder/ welder repairman's advice on a problem I'm having. I've had some problems with the torch on my old Lincoln buzzbox, the wires from the lead that fuse to the torch were starting to come apart from the torch, creat...

My finger burn was not welding related. I bought a new lawn mower (Ferrari red). It had a plastic top cover over the engine and looked fantastic. 6.5hp and cuts grass like a dream. ($100 on http://www.kijiji.ca) Anyway, I needed to lower the four wheels in order to adjust the grass cut height. I ad...

Re: My first TIG welds, what did I do wrong?

Attached are pictures of my first welds with a new welder. Mild steel, 100% argon. 1st weld was the angle iron butted together. The welds were strong enough to take a hit from a 3lbs sledge. I know the metal wasnt clean enough, and I also didn't have the amps high enough, and Im thinking I may also...

Nathan. Union perform collective bargaining. So, if you want to bargain for yourself, then perhaps the union is not the path for you to take. Nathan.

If you are interested in unions, you might consider reading some trade union history. Especially of those unions that represent welders. Also you might make a visit to the locals unions headquarters to get more information.

Keep all your options open.

Re: Calling Jody! wide spaced ripples

I went to apply for a MIG welding job at a place that made cable spool trailers for utility companies. The stacked dime welds were on all of the trailers. He had me run a bead on a lap joint and it came out quite nice as far as MIG welding goes, using the same settings that he had been using. Figur...

If you are using low hydrogen rod (example 7018), it is recommended to not use a long arc, for the risk of porosity. (Even though there might result porosity, it does...

Goforthjp. My guess is that you would not be doing that much welding, so consider stick welding it. In that case you could buy those few rods of E309 (assuming the keg is the non magnetic austenitic stainless steel). If the hotrod will be 'living' in a humid climate, you will notice in a short time ...

Ranking seems a little repetitive ... over kill. In that the number of posts and the date of joining the forum are already part of the data supplied for each member. It makes little difference, but I would recommend not utilizing the ranking system.

No undercut, 1mm suk back on peno, 2mm reinforcement ===== Australinwelder. If you had adequate penetration during from the root pass, you might be accidentally causing the suck-back during the second pass by running too high on the heat. Nathan / Otto. I enjoyed both of those reads of how welding was initially triggered. I was soldiering, and would slip up into the mountains for a couple of days.
