Re: What does everyone think of the new look?

Besides appearance, what are the differences from the previous revision?
Just from a glance there seems to be more usable icons present.

Nickn372.

The question of Amish welding only came to my mind after reading your initial post.
But looking around in the cloud ... the following link is dedicated to it and has various points of view. Comment #10 and #15 reminded me of your posts.

Re: Forklift fork repair

Nickn372. I know next to nothing about the Amish but I am curious if they do any welding. Just read in Wikipedia that powerline electricity is avoided, but diesel or gasoline burner would come in handy shared by the various families. Or an oxyactylene set up. Okay, you and others supply that service...

Re: Forklift fork repair

Nickn372. Liability is a big issue here. It would make sense to contact the manufacturer for any repair procedure ... if there is one. As an example, see paragraph 6.2.8.2 on page 12 of the linked document. http://gillisons.com/pdfs/forklift_manual.pdf Curiosity ... how did it break and at what loca...

NEW WELDING PROCESS About twenty years ago I learned of a new welding process. This was back in '92 if I remember correctly. At the end of each month, we the contractor, try to document as many completed structural welds as possible, in order to collect the monthly payment from the Client. So the we...

TamJeff. After reading your message and looking at the photo, I wondered if it has ever happened, where one commenter sends in a photo of a weld, and then to discover that the photographed weld was the work of another forum member. Kind of like showing up at the brothel and discovering a friend or f...

Wldnfrk.

Ya might leave on and off, some cards at all the welding supply shops too.
Generate a long list of potential clients and send them a flyer and stop by to talk with them.
Socializing, that is face-to-face contact is appreciated.
Hire some kid to put together a website for you too.

With that experience, have you assisted in developing welding procedures (PQR and WPS)? Anyways tanks for the input about the SAW. About ten years back, with a vessel fabricator...

the gas i was refering to for being pricey is the mixed gas. such as the 90/10, they want around 50$ more for a mixed gas than they would straight co2. stick welding is not an option in any way shape or form with my situation. dont have a big enough generator or a big generator/welder, i dont do en...

Re: Stick welding root passes with 7018s!

Otto Nobedder. For downland (vertical down progression) with 6010, if dragging the rod (with rod pushed constantly in), I do not note a keyhole. For uphill with 6010, I work the puddle and see the gap widening (keyhole)and use a slight up and down motion, while adjusting the arc length as needed. Fo...

Re: Stick welding root passes with 7018s!

Chadwarden. Picture in your mind the keyhole you make with a cellulose rod, for example a 6010. A 7018 low hydrogen rod will require a slightly larger *** keyhole. It has less penetration power than a cellulose rod. It solidifies slower than the cellulose rod. Working the puddle will mean ensuring t...

Italianwelder.

Is that citoflex (6010)for the root pass ever used downhill (welding from top to bottom)?
How does that PH35-S rod weld compared to other major brands (for example like Lincoln, Esab, Kobe, etc.)?

Tanks.

Re: Hi all

Welcome.

Please comment.
Probably the welding codes are a little different in Europe than other places across the globe.
Do you do any cellulose rod (6010 etc.) downhill on the pipelines?

Tanks.

Re: Stick welding root passes with 7018s!

7018 is a low hydrogen rod that requires that you hold a short arc.
For a root pass, you will have to work the puddle.
There should be able to find some videos.

I bet you will never find that qualification test sculpure in any code book.
May want to take a photo to show your kids years from now.

Bye the way ... what process(es) did you use on the test?
