Re: Pipe Root Process
If a 6010 root is overlayed by 7018, then the 7018 wont be as 'low hydrogen' as it would have been.hydrogen from the 6010 will migrate into the 7018 hot pass, fill etc. a tig root with er70 filler will have higher tensile strength to match the 7018, 70,000psi compared to 60,000 of the 6010.there wil...

Re: E6013 for pipe codings????
I did a cellulose root 6013 fill n cap asme IX test lately.its used a bit but not as common as tig root lohy fill and cap or tig complete.or even lohy root to cap. 6013 isnt harder or easier to go round a pipe with than 7018, just different.if you can use one you should have no problem with the othe...

Everlasts 6010 port and 6010 never got on for me.
yes it would 'weld' with them, but it was nasty.for open roots it kept extinguishing.
6011 it was a little better, but still not nice

Re: TIG repair, question re when HF should run
If the machine puts out a fancy squarewave in ac, it only needs hf to initiate the arc.just like dc. if it is a plain old transformer putting out sinewave, then the hf needs to stay on the whole time or the arc will extinguish. sounds like yours is square. Possibly the hf voltage is leaking out and ...

Its the same output,230 amps, and the exact same front panel, which is a unique one. the price of them both is the same when you include VAT , or tax. the kemppi has a very good reputation, but I have never used it. if it was me, I would go for a EWM tetrix 220acdc, or save a bit more and get a fron...

It sounds like a voltage issue.if you are definitely using the right taps, id check them with a meter.
that welder should have 65 volts, which is about the lower limit for a 7018

Really now, lets let this 6013 go.... Put it behind us. I've used 7018 for years, proven itself many times over. Been using 6013 for a few minutes, and decided I can do better. 7018 out... I prolly could of used 3/16 8018 for this, but, she'l hold with 1/8 7018. BTW, I used my Invertec 200. Very ni...

Its not strange that when run properly they pass bend and xray tests.a fillet weld needs a different technique though.
penetration at the root is the only weakness, every other pass can be done at lower amps if needed

No matter how good a weldor is,as im sure Shield Arc is better than most, you need to know a particular rods drawbacks, and how to work around them.
