Re: Looking for HOW TO: FOR WALK/CUP ON CAP

The larger the cup you use, the smaller your hand/wrist motions have to be. Steve S Correct me if I am wrong Steve but this is what I understand you to mean. I would not call myself a master at walking the cup but the larger cup in this application would be better. The idea is not covering more gro...

Re: tungsten sharpening.

John, I do not have a tungsten grinder or use one. I use a bench grinder for almost all my tungsten grinding. Someday maybe I will pick up a tungsten grinder. I ALWAYS sharpen with the striations following the length of the rod. I also always sharper to a point, with varying tapers. Here is a wheel ...

Re: New to Forum, new to welding, farming on the east coast

Ward, Not to add to your confusion but I have read your and the others posts and think that the Thermal Arc Fabricator (now Tweco) 252i might be a good solution. It is not AC but if would give you plenty of power for all your DC applications. I have demoed this machine and over all It would make a g...

AK
I think that is one of my biggest regrets, not taking pictures of welds/projects.
......but why is it that our best welds seem to always be somewhere where no one will never see them, or they are the root pass that will get covered up?

slag peeled up in one piece, wasn't a touch of spatter, and that weld was perfect. :o

Re: 7018AC rod problem

. I'm not what anyone HERE would consider a good welder. I wouldn't be so sure of that. We are not here to judge, rather to help each other. I remember my days first trying to stick weld, to say I was terrible would be a understatement! I did the peck rod thing and wasted a lot of rod. Actually a A...

Re: 7018AC rod problem

sling-it, First welcome. I am not totally sure of the problem and hopefully someone can else can give you a good answer. I would first ask if this is a AC or DC machine. I assume with its age it is AC. The second question I would ask is are you striking your are like a match or are you pecking the r...

I too have bent many a rod. Going into factories you never know what you will come up against. I do know another business owner friend of mine that will write his employees up for not using this rod all the way to the end of the flux. I don't agree with this but its not my business. I tried to expla...

danielbuck, A few ideas for you. I have repaired some cast Alum from cars and some I have had luck with. I agree with either the torch to bake out some impurities, but let it cool down as mentioned, or I have light up with the TIG torch and just burn off impurities. When you think you got it clean i...

I think both edges look great! The hand held on the right is very consistent. I assume that you had a guide to help make the cut straight. Looks like you had a consistent travel speed.

A co-worker of mine several years ago was sent to a large factory to do some repairs. While he was carrying items back to the truck he heard some one screaming. Running in that direction, he came upon a man who had his legs crushed by a forklift. Apparently that guys forklift had died and he was lay...
