Where did you find this pdf? I’ve seen it before on the internet but can’t find it again. It was the full list of all metal sizes, types, gassed, and short circuit vs spray.

Re: Aluminum Settings

These Miller settings should get you in the ballpark... these are for 4043. I find that I just dial my settings in on a practice piece right before I commit to any welding. 5356 and Hobart 4943 also use very different settings too. Keep a log of your work and settings, it will save time for future w...

I'm no fan of Everlast, but ESAB said they made the first AC/DC machine. I think Everlast did months ago....

Re: Miller Multimatic 200 thoughts?

JimmyJohn... you are correct! The 200 is a great machine and unfortunately doesn't get the respect it deserves since a host of new and cheaper machines came out. I personally have run the 200 for days on end and on some pretty big projects without a hiccup. Not many welders earn a place in my shop, ...

I weld overhead MIG aluminum with pulse-on-pulse frequently and successfully. Does your Mig machine have pulse?

That's correct. Unless Hobart Licenses it out and gets a royalty were all stuck. No competition = higher prices.

Re: new filler for aluminum

It's hard to get because Hobart has a patent on it. Most LWS will have to special order it with a 10 lb minimum. I just ordered 10lb - 3/32 as a compromise.

Just did some 1/4" today.... just burn away... no pre-heat necessary. I'd post pix but tired of having to re-size them to fit this site.

Re: What are you doing for air filtration in your garage?

I bought this AQE2000 (Air Quality Engineering) fume extractor recently from Government Liquidations.com for $500 and put another $500 restoring it. Wouldn't weld without it, tired of opening the doors and losing heat.

Re: Bronze welding for mild or 4130?

I do a lot of silicone bronze mig and tig. When I have done motorcycles for people that wanted that bronze look, I would just weld with ER70 and go over it with silicone bronze. Works great!
