A couple of pics of a stainless trolley to suit D and E size bottles here in Australia. This is for compressed air to use at the racetrack for quick tyre inflation adjustments for an open wheel racing team. Also for the same customer a set of folding stainless stands to work on the racecars and an A...

I do the same, you can usually get by with removing 1 screen layer.

Another thing is that the machine welding shown in your video is actually plasma welding and I suspect the hand held welding is plasma welding as well. Zank, am I correct in assuming the tubing is 4130 Cr/Mo?
If so, What do you use to linish the tubing with as all the 4130 we use has a slight coating over it?

Re: Cup seems off-center on torch?

This is a common occurrence for me and I've found I usually just snug up the collet body firmly and screw down the ceramic till it seals but not too tightly and just push the ceramic till it centralises with the Tungsten.

Re: Blistering on back of steel welds

Pete, Mike is right, amperage is everything on thinner materials.
Another trick if you have the room behind where you are welding is clamp some heavy material underneath where you are welding and this acts as a heat sink drawing heat away from the bottom surface.

Re: Cast alloy timing cover

Another method I've used is to use a bolt to support the hole as the welding is being done. I use enough amperage to start welding on the cast but not enough to melt the steel or stainless steel bolt. One trick here is to linish the threads flat slightly so they don't come to a point and this makes ...

Stagger, just use LW1 ER70 S-6 standard Mig welding wire and whatever gas you normally use for Mig welding steel and you will be fine. We do lots of Tig welding on 4130 and we only use ER70 range wires, we've never gone up to the ER80 range as the ER70 wires give a bit more ductility for our applica...

Awill4wd. Concerning the Bugatti gearbox, I am assuming it was cracked in all the areas that you welded. Why did you choose a large gap to weld? Was sequence of which gaps to weld first, a factor? Was the direction of welding for each gap a consideration? I enjoyed your contribution. Tanks. Alexa A...
