Re: Mig like Tig
Hey Paul, Thanks for jumping in and posting some pics as well as good info. I will just go ahead and say that I am in awe of your work. I know what it takes as far as prep, planning, sequencing, visualizing where stops and starts will be, executing, etc . to get a finished product to look like your...

Re: Mig like Tig
Not really stressing over it, Mick. I just find it difficult to have a discussion when the facts are ignored. It's like everyone is raising their hand to be the kid in the classroom with the best answer but they're all failing to see the answer has already been written on the chalkboard. ...and yes,...

Re: Mig like Tig
just a thought but maybe he is using a stitch attachment to give a brief pause and then weld another puddle. I used this doing welds on thin material to avoid warping and keep the heat transfer low. The other possibility is to pulse the trigger and lay one bead on top of the other . just my 2 cents...

Re: Mig like Tig
Where's Jody?
I was hoping he would have joined the discussion by now.
I see that he's commented on the video a couple of times.
....maybe he's busy eating that omelet he made with all those broken eggs?

Re: Mig like Tig
Ok guys...I have to be honest with you.
Here is all you really need to make the MIG-like-TIG look.

Re: Mig like Tig
I don't doubt it, Steve. It's the same thing on WeldingWeb where I have been a member for years and was a Moderator for some time. Either way, newbie or old timer I will never understand some people's need to make false statements or assumptions about a situation, especially when the facts have been...

Re: Mig like Tig
As would I, if that portion of the work were at my complete discretion. I get away with much, with little supervision, but my primary function is leak detection and ASME "R" stamp vessel repair. All TIG work, to code. When I rebuild auxillary structure, while it's still T&M work, it's...

Re: Mig like Tig
Jody, I am probably the least experienced weldor here, but I've read the threads and I think I can interpret what ZTfab is telling us while not really telling us how he does that stack of dimes look. I haven't yet gone out to the shop and fired up but I have a sneaking suspicion that the technique ...

Here's one more.

Re: Mig like Tig
Hey everyone.... Hopefully I can dispel some of the myths and assumptions about this technique. For starters, it's just a technique. Much like walking the cup with TIG or using a lay-rod instead of a dip-move-dip...it's just a technique. I'm not saying that it's the best technique and it shouldn't b...
