Re: Major AC TIG problems?
I'll get a few photos for you. I'll also take a look inside of the torch. If it means anything, it still works like normal on DC. I am using roughly 7 LPM argon. Not sure on the alloy but it is stuff I practiced with with a different machine, so I know it welds fine. When I go out to take photos I'l...

Major AC TIG problems? SOLVED
I am working on trying to get the AC going with my new everlast 256 welder, and I am having problems. I was able to completely melt 1/2" aluminum into a nasty grey and black blob- on only ~120A. I was on AC, it didn't matter if I had the balance set one way or the complete other way. Frequency ...

Re: Everlast 256 Foot Pedal Not Working?
Apparently there are no differences internally.
The front panel is rearranged and the case is different, it looks a little nicer.
I am having major problems on AC though. Gonna post on welding web everlast section and call them tomorrow for some support..

Re: Everlast 256 Foot Pedal Not Working?
Everlast may send you a 7-pin connector if you ask them. I was told by Oleg from Everlast that I can run the supplied water cooled torch up to 150A without water cooling. I am planning to go to the store today and rig up a ghetto water cooler with a 5 gallon bucket and a fish tank pump. FYI wekspace...

Re: Everlast 256 Foot Pedal Not Working?
Ok, glad to know I don't need to mess with the arc gap.. But I want to figure out what the issue is with welding on AC. Maybe it was the torch (water cooled, not hooked up to a water cooler) getting too hot... Overall, it was behaving weird after the first few beads I ran. I will try it again tomorr...

Re: Everlast 256 Foot Pedal Not Working?
Hi guys, After creating this thread, I went back to the garage to mess with it. What happened was the micro switch arm was getting jammed. Stupid design. Either way I fixed it and it works great. Perhaps you can enlighten me on a few other things though. I tried the machine on AC. It worked very wel...

Everlast 256 Foot Pedal Not Working?
So I got to wire up my new 256S Everlast today and I got to using it... The foot pedal doesn't work? I was able to weld with the torch switch, but I can't get the foot pedal to do anything. It seems like there is no switch inside or the switch is broken. I am going to take it apart, maybe I can find...

Re: Aluminum Project
Can you please share the details on how to go for aluminium finishing? Thanks in advance. What type of finish are you looking for? High spindle speed and a slow feed rate should grant you a decent finish. If it is not what you want, using scotch brite on the part works well, just move slowly and yo...

Re: new here and new to tig
My advice is keep practicing on the flat easy stuff. Once you have the motions down well and you are gaining consistency, you can work towards good results with other joints and tubing. Especially since you're practicing, just focus on the mild steel. Stainless will come once you have more control. ...

Re: Everlast 256 with a CK130?
Thanks Steve, I looked around a little. The threads are 3/8" male on my CK torch. It looks like there are 7/8" and 3/8" thread dinse connectors, and some 5/8. The 200A dinse connectors are mostly 7/8", which leads me to believe that the WP18 that comes with the welder probably ha...

Re: Everlast 256 with a CK130?
Thanks for the quick reply.
So is it basically the connection between the Dinse connector and the welding machine that differs? Not the connection between the torch and the dinse connector?

Everlast 256 with a CK130?
Hi guys, I have an Everlast PowerPro 256 on the way. I bought a CK 130 to use with it.. My question is, do I need a different DINSE connector or adapter to use the small torch? It comes with the giant water cooled torch (26 I think), so I wasn't sure. It says in the welder manual online that it uses...
