Re: Tig welding stainless

Yes, use filler 1,2 or 1,6 mm or even smaller if you have.
Be prepared to push in the filler as soon as the arc starts

Here's some I made recently. 20x6 mm mild steel

Re: Supplied Air a Good Idea for TIG and MIG?

Coaters have indeed been working hard the last year's to comply with new regulations. Yellow chromating is almost gone now. Hard chromium plating will have an exception a few years more, too difficult to fully replace yet. I was more thinking about the welding fumes, has to fall under the same regul...

Just came to think about hex chrome will be banned in Europe on September 21 this year. How would that impact welding? Any new products to be launched soon?

I like the doubble taper too. Back in 1988 I was thaught to grind like that but that was for DC. Was making a special steel profile so it was all automated fusing the joint when the profile folded together in the mill.

Yeah, I know there are better materials to use but this will do for now. No reason for the miter pattern other than for the look. Just wanted to try it out on something even if it was overkill in this case  Adds a lot of strength though compared to miter two and just drop down the third leg...

Trying a different way of mitering for the first time. IMG_20170522_36797.jpg IMG_20170522_27988.jpg IMG_20170522_23250.jpg 3mm 6063 welded with 3/32 4043 filler and 125 amps torch switch only, 150 Hz and 35% EP Little grainy but I just wiped off the Sharpie lines with acetone, no other cleaning.

You will most likely be ok.
Some people are more sensitive than others but the lens filters most of the UV even in grind mode.

Shut up guys and don't complain... ;)

Changed a 140 cf bottle yesterday, 100$ and that's below list price.
5$ surcharge for the integrated regulator but not even close your prices.

Nice find Get yourself a set of clamping bars now that you have a t-slot table. Very handy when clamping stuff that won't fit in a vice. Also very good on the welding table too. The scanners will detect the shape but they are not that common yet. Been thru a fair amount of airports and the only one I seen was either in Dubai or London. Been a while since I was in the US though so they might be more common there. Always wanted to ask immigration about one question on the car...

Well, you certainly have started your tig journey the hardest possible way ;)

Tubing is hard enough, aluminium adds another dimension for a beginner. But you can expect a lot of help here 8-)

He he , no you don't ;)
You can easily hold a used rod with a tig glove but don't pool cue with one. The radiation from the arc is strong enough to give blisters thru a tig glove without even touching any metal.
