I'm not formally trained in Tig - so this is just my opinion - A gas lens will usually give better / more uniform shielding - usually using lower CFH of gas which is expensive & I have to pay for mine ! so I use a gas lens pretty much all the time I'm able to - I see no reason not to - I only u...

I have welded on some bearings (for various toys) up to about 1 1/4" without preheating, but I believe that preheating would help. Just be careful...they retain heat for a long time. :oops:

Go to Stronghandtools.com, click downloads. I believe the table you are referring to is in the Probuild catalog. I've been looking. They ain't cheap!

What are you cleaning it with? I have had it happen with some sanding disk that I had used. Changed to a dedicated stainless brush and it stopped.

Just joined

I just found Jody's web site and started checking it out and found this forum. I've known Jody for a few years and he actually taught me to tig and mig weld. Looks like the forums are loaded with good info and I look forward to researching them.
