Ifit,
Is that the export version of the old Lincoln tombstone? I've never seen one in that case before and it's not on the US Lincoln website.

Re: Garage exhaust fan question..
I am planning on doing the same thing come summer mine is made for a multiple bay so I was thinking if I plumbed the outside air through it it could provide enough vacum for fume extraction using a y fitting, a valve on the outside air would make the suction adjustable. Any thoughts? You thinking a...

Re: 115v mig welding problems
I recently bought a 115v might welder and have been having some issues. There's no penetration and its popping a lot. I'm a beginner with mig, I've used flux core but am new to using gas. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. You sure your polarity is correct? Flux core wants to be DCEN. E...

You could find out what's in one of the commercial fume extractors and attempt to replicate the function of that filter stack.motox wrote:rick

Dc current won't hurt you. You'll get a tickle once in a while tho. DC current won't hurt like a kick in the face from a horse won't hurt. Mind you, I've never been kicked in the face by a horse, but I have had several belts from DC and I can assure you it does hurt. Not only does it hurt but it ca...

Re: Advice on buying a Mig
I bought a Millermatic 252 I doubt I could ever find a reason to upgrade. The 252 is the only MIG machine on my job that we have calibrated annually for code work. Fine machine. Very programmable for preflow, postflow, burnback, etc. It'll do spray-arc for hours. (I never do, as I do repair work, b...

Re: Advice on buying a Mig
I have the tweco 141i. I like it for it's multipurpose but I don't care very much for the mig portion. The soft start sucks. The other tweco machines have the same so it starts out cold then gets hot. I would vote for the hobart 210MVP as it's a transformer machine and has more balls especially at ...

Electricity takes the shortest path to ground. Don't be a part of that path. Get your ground clamp as close to your weld as you can.

Re: how to approach suppliers regarding work quality
I always cut the long stuff myself, except for having the supplier cut a 20' into two 10s, so it's easier to get to the house. When I need something sheared, I always tell 'em, "I don't want to have to grind on it, so get it dead nuts on for me" -- said with a grin. And they always do. Doe...

Re: hello from central arkansas, Slag delima
Welcome aboard. Could be you're running a bit too hot. I had that problem with my Bobcat 225. Seems like some of them tend to run a bit hotter than the dial indicates. Just play around with the amperage until you find the best balance between a good bead and easy slag removal.

I've never regretted the money I spent on good tools. You get what you pay for, and I realize that most of us ain't ...

Some of the best advice I ever heard is, "The key to success is knowing which jobs to walk away from". I'm with ex framie on this one. I wouldn't touch it. Too much liability and chance of hurting or killing somebody. Wouldn't it just be easier to get a machinist to chuck it up in a lathe ...

STILO TIG Welding Tungsten Electrode Grinding Rotating Tool
Being a total noob TIG welder, and not being in the mood to spend $300 or so on a tungsten grinder, but understanding that a properly ground electrode could only do good things for my so far pitiful attempts at the art I decided to spring about 50 bucks for a STILO TIG electrode rotator.
