Most likely just be mild steel, .035-.045 wire. I was just considering the cst 280 as a power source because it's easily portable. What makes it different from running on that as opposed to an xmt with a vs option?

Hey guys, curious if anyone knows if you can run an xtreme 12vs off of an cst 280? Cst 280 is basically an inverter stick welder with a very plain jane tig function. Built a table for my son. Drew the design up on AutoCad, and had the legs laser cut. Had a little bit of undercut on a couple of the spacers I welded, but came out pretty nice. The orange really stands out, but that's what he wanted. X leg is a good sturdy design.

If your machine is rated for 230 3-phase, it should run fine on 208. If it's a basic transformer machine as I suspect (I didn't look it up), expect to set somewhat higher amperages than if the machine were on true 230. If it's digitally controlled, expect normal response. Have you metered the line?...

I own a CST 280 that is also labeled 230/460. I've ran it off of 208 a few times. I was just curious if it prematurely destroys the machine. I'm sure it will weld on 208, I just dont want to burn it up as this will be in the shop and always hooked up to 208 3 phase

I've seen a bunch of different models, but I was curious if you can run a 230/460 single or three phase model, off of 208? The machine comes on, but I didnt try welding with it. I noticed they have models for 208, so I'm guessing no.

Anyone ever run this wire? I would be using .035 along with 75/25. I didn't price it, but I'm sure it is more expensive. I was just curious of it's characteristics and your thoughts.

You're definitely correct on more room means more tools. I do a lot of custom sheet metal work and have really had my eye on this power hammer.

I used 2x2 16g tubing, and had the gussets feet and tabs cut out of 1/4" plate. It's definitely a sturdy bed.

Well it looks like a fitter got his money out of this one too. Had to completely replace a couple of fittings and gouge all the others. Spent 3-1/2 times the hours he had bid on it. Sucks for him, but pretty sure he learned a good lesson the hard way.
