Fixed, broken wire all along >< panic is over.
I cut and re-soldered the plug further down the line.

Re: No Arc on 275 Square wave
*facePalm* yes that appears to be the issue. I took the foot pedal off a borrowed squarewave 175, and it makes an arc. Unfortunately it seems it is totally unserviceable, no screws and peined over swivel pin. one break in the casing of the wire but no damage to the wires inside. EDIT: scratch that y...

It sticks 7018-1 fine on all polarities. cold on DC- normal on AC and a Little hot on DC+, seems normal across the bored.
perhaps my torch is buggered It was a CK twist lock, I thought maybe it was having a poor connection at the twist, but looks fine after i took it apart.

Re: TIG Brazing Silicone Bronze?
well the second muffler some one had JB-welded the crack. but after burning it out and the fresh paint job they put on, I found that not only was the crack longer but had also been welded already, probably regular stick as it didn't share the heat with the cast when heated instead it reached kindlin...

Ground it down and cleaned all old Paint off. took a Carbide burr and V'd out the crack by tracing it. after i ground out the crack a bit i did notice some rust from the inside on the crack. so pre-heating the whole thing seems to be my problem then, I'll have to strip the whole thing. I have Weldin...

TIG Brazing Silicone Bronze?
last week I welded a Cast Iron Fitting onto a steel Fuel Tank with silicon bronze, worked great, much like the Piggy-bank video. This week same customer asked me to repair a crack in his boat exhaust mufflers. Cast Iron and hallow and about the size of a lunch box. This time however the silicon bron...

Its on my water table, although not a Hi-def unit so not submerged, but it does help cut down on fumes. I have a 3m mask with 2097 pancake filter, and 2297 particulate filters. I do this in a Barn so i can open my 12x12 doors as well if i have to. I am not familiar with the short-term/long-term heal...

Ok so I haven't been on for a while, but now i have some uncertainty about a Job i got. I need to cut some 200 small circles out of a 3/8 x 4x8 sheet and was wondering if there were some inherent health risks when cutting large amounts of stainless above and beyond the normal hazards of cutting mild...

Well in Ontario its costing us about $90 per fill on our 100lbs'rs we use 2 for heating the fab shop on a 50k btu heater. depending where we go it is about $78 at one place(and we get a special rate for getting filled every week) and $90 at another. And they are telling us there is a shortage and th...

So no one has really TIGed this stuff before? We chose this 260 cause McMaster Carr listed it as having excellent Tiging properties.

Tig Welding 260 Brass
I have a small job to make 30 "old fashioned style" window closers out of brass. We were discussion either to Solder the parts together or Tig them. I suggested Tiging them cause we wouldn't have to worry about any extra solder washing over exposed areas. but as it uses .035 wall square tu...

Pivoting Sheet metal Dolly
Has anyone seen something resembling this horrible mspaint drawing? I seem to remember seeing something like it for drywall. I need something to take vertical sheets and help me move them to a plasma table. I'll probably end up building one but I was sure they were a preexisting product. But when i ...

well I'll be honest, i was looking at the wrong unit. After talking with the guy over the phone and not being able to sleep last night i found the proper manual. same duty cycles as the hypertherm. Went with the Thermaldyne while trying to scrape a $1000 off the price of the table. after getting the...

Plasma Table woes . . .
So my shop has a 4x8 Plasma Table coming in 3 months or so. We were going with a PM85, I understood what that unit was all about so there weren't going to be any surprises or confusion. But at the last second we went with a Thermadyne Cutmaster A80 (witch is the model they guy said over the phone) t...

Yea, i had seen a video of it being done after a few responses and they called it stack cutting. I gave it a shot on stainless and they did fuse together something fierce. i used a screwdriver and near deformed the pieces to an unusable state. My main problem was i was going too slow, the tip on my ...

So returned my PM30 today and got the 375 extreme. Only took about a month and half since complaining about it to actually getting the unit. But right out of the box, it cuts like a dream. Even did a better job on 1/2" than the PM30. Maybe the Miller is a Simple plasma cutter for simple people,...

Get a set of Bore gauges, good for measuring any kind of difference of bore sizes from deflection in longer thinner tubes or using longer thinner boring bars.

Underpaid for sure, $45/h at least it sounds with that skill set. But there is always the personal side as well. if you get a long with everyone and they still have a lot more they can teach you, then why not stay. I would say enjoy your ride there as long as you can, but never turn down a better op...

What is this " 1.1.1 Trichloromethane" and is it really good at cleaning aluminum? is it safe to use indoors? does it leave any kind of residue? We make scope mounts and after the tapping process the fluid turns to gel in our standard cleaning solution so i we used engine degreaser now and...

good to hear. the PM30 was my first choice because they did have all the parts on the shelf, at least it looked that way. They had a whole section on a wall called powermax 30, but when i started trying to buy from them everything in the section and all the other sections were all mixed up. And i ha...
