What brand are they as I use Weldcraft exclusively and they certainly split and crack if you try to snap them off.. Not as bad as some Chinese makes I have used.

Theoretically you are supposed to break off any contam. If its just worn away, messed up it should work. but if theres a ball of filler or base metal, snap off. Are you using a lot of pressure when cleaning, I only buffed the area lightly.. Maybe you should try a sanding disc first if you have a too of scale.

To be correct I what said is wrong. You do need a regulator to drop the pressure, but the flow meter units are preset as to the pressure you can then just play with the flow
