For a man that has been welding for 12 years stick and mig I found it quite quick took me about a week to stop dipping the tungsten, but it is all about practice and more practice. Tell me where I went wrong and any suggestions and tips would be appreciated. I was using 6010 at about 95 amps... Practice, practice, practice, take a look at Jody's video on running beads on a flat stock just like you are. Rod angle and speed and watch the puddle forming behind the arc and try to...

Re: Welding Cart

Hi all I am looking to either buy or make a cart to sit my Miller Dynasty on with a built in toolbox /drawers so I can store all the torch consumables, does anybody have any ideas or has purchased one. I found one on Amazon but it was like 86lbs and they would not ship to Japan. Photos and / plans w...

My idea was to put a pin through the tube a little off set and bend a hook on the end of the short rods so the are hung at top.

Re: chem sharp

http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com/sharpening-tungsten-electrodes.html This is a fantastic video, but I do notice Jody never mentions anything about snapping the tungstens off? I think this is a very interesting topic but one that there is no real answer other than what the manufacturers recommend...

Hi Mike

What brand are they as I use Weldcraft exclusively and they certainly split and crack if you try to snap them off.. Not as bad as some Chinese makes I have used.

Re: chem sharp

Theoretically you are supposed to break off any contam. If its just worn away, messed up it should work. but if theres a ball of filler or base metal, snap off. Mick Hi Mick I my low level experience if you just snap the tungsten off invariably you end up with split or cracks in your tungsten, bett...

Interesting and thanks Bill. I never experienced that with the no name Chinese ones I bought, but I did not use until completely gone.
Are you using a lot of pressure when cleaning, I only buffed the area lightly.. Maybe you should try a sanding disc first if you have a too of scale.

Re: Home made pipe clamps

I kind of depends on your current application as I agree with the channel or even heavy wall angle will do the job, but looking at the photo theses are really designed around alignment fir but welds, not really made for stopping the pipe from rolling over or moving. I might be grossly wrong in my as...

Re: Cup seems off-center on torch?

As you shorten up the electrode the offset will reduce, but just be careful as you may end up with the gas not covering the arc properly and end up with a crook weld, I would be checking as per the other reply to see where the problem is at least that way you know there is not something else in the ...

Hi
Glad to hear you have had a great experience with the unit. I have just ordered a 625 Xtreme as the price difference between the two units was not so great but the thicker cut was an advantage.
I will post some comments on how it goes when it arrives.

To be correct I what said is wrong. You do need a regulator to drop the pressure, but the flow meter units are preset as to the pressure you can then just play with the flow

How are you verifying your gas flow? I don't know if Miller still sends pressure gauges with there gas welders but they need to be switched to a flow-meter asap. Ok I will try to keep this as short as possible. I have had problems with this machine from day one, It has never welded smooth, it has bad arc wander and always acts like the Gas is off.
