Made a 2" square dice for my wife from scrap 1/4" aluminum diamond plate. She collects all kinds of dice and was very surprised.

I manually pulse on aluminum with the foot pedal to get welds like these. 6061 aluminum . Anodized is a whole different animal

Notching stainless tubing
Seasons greetings all. I am trying to notch 1" stainless .065 wall tubing on my drill press and keep breaking the teeth off of the hole saw. I have the drill press set to the lowest rpm. A machinist friend said I would need a mill to do this to get the rpm down lower. Can't afford that purchase...

I weld alum mostly, but my boss needs me to do Stainless from time to time. This boat rail had studs and needed Feet. Cut from plate with a hole saw, cleaned up and added to rail; boy!, do I need practice on stainless. Any way, it turned out "acceptable for what it was. http://i28.photobucket....

My bet is the gas pressure. I have had similar happen at low pressure. I have been told not use gas once pressure gets to 500 psi as there are contaminates in the gas that will come up at lower pressure.

My table is typically the cleanest area but then guess what happens when you have the only clear landing strip in the jungle?
