I haven't done any welding on my frames, but I have read several times that you should disconnect the CDI box.

It fits. I just wish you could move the helmet out slightly farther on the headgear to give it a bit more clearance. It's not a problem, just a bit puzzling as to why it would be that way....

Mine is a bit loud, but I don't find it obnoxious. Mine doesn't have an alarm. I think they came out with that feature just after I bought mine. Anyway, I've had no issues with it. It works great.

I made mine from an old brake drum off a logging truck. It's a beast and won't tip over when you lean on it to grind something heavy. It's easy to move around the shop with the casters.

Second off, I've tried two Digital elites, and hated both of them. What did you hate about the digital elites? I was thinking of buying one because they went down to shade 8. My 3/32 tungstens are Weldcraft and my 1/8 tungstens are HTP. Both split. I think I might try some Diamond Ground next.

I have never broken the end off a messed up tungsten. I have always cut it off with the edge of a grinding wheel. I don't think that is the cause in my case. The splits that I have been seeing are more like the end of the tungsten is frayed. The splits don't go up very far - maybe about a millimeter...

Maybe I just didn't use enough amps, but it seemed to me that it would be easy to weld the stud into the hole as the washer was melting away. This was only a 10mm bolt, so perhaps it was too small for this procedure.....

The most important thing to consider is why the bolt broke off. If its rusted or heat corroded or just broken off by a mechanical force, you should be able to get it out.
