I have been welding 1/4 thick ali for the last 3 days....each component is 30 mins of non stop welding ( apart from a couple of repositions and picking up new rods )...Plant set at around 210 amps using a 50/50 Argon Helium mix , this is on a Murex 353is Transtig ...I would not attempt the same job ...

Very strange arrangment that they think reworking parts with defects is quicker than cleaning it in the first place and not getting the defects....
I always try to enphasise to the few young apprentices that we get through the shop that the basis of any good ali weld starts with cleanliness

I was very sceptical about Inverters when we first changed over to them around 12/13 years ago , took a lot of adjusting styles and practices.......But now days there are jobs that i do with ease on thin gauge ali with an inverter that i would not attempt with an older transformer plant If i were st...
