Re: Cutting aluminium SHS

Pretend aluminum is a hardwood. Watch out for the chips !
Dry is better. A little slower rpm(if you can) makes managing the flying chips easier.

Re: Straight CO2

I run straight CO2 and have no problems. You do get a bit more spatter, but get the machine dialed in right and you are good to go. The $$ savings is worth it for me. Muddy is on the North pole. I'm on the equator(mas o menos).Get a bottle of CO2 and deal with it. More money will be left over for.....

Re: Miller Board Repair

First welcome to the forum! I would suggest going to your local welding supply and see if they repair machines. They will be reasonable and generally know what they are doing. If you are confident that this is your problem and since you have the part no already, you could try to fix it yourself. Th...

Re: Looking to go into pipeline welding but i am soo confuse

Ask the recruiter about the land mine detection program. It's quite befitting, I think.
It usually pays a little more and a bit of dirt on the boots won't get you into serious trouble. ;)

Re: Straight CO2

Plan A---Inexpensive. Plan B--- gotta get the stick out(Jody videos-cut nozzle) and wire feed speed absolutely perfect or the spatter will show up. Much better at low~ish amperage than high.Over 1/4" you surely want C25. I'm old enough to remember when it was all that was available.A bit finick...

A frame for what ? Describe what you're making.
If its a filter frame to filter elephant shit, it's one thing. If it's a display rack for a bakery or jewelry store it's another.

Re: Band Saw or Chop Saw

Hacksaws are healthier and nearly carbon free :) (unless you fart).I recommend using blades made from recycled steel. :ugeek:
That being said, several of the dry cut saws are under $500.If you ever use one you'll throw all of those other idiotic ideas out the window.

If you called me I'd go out to the shop and grab a tube of 3/32 7014 and run them AC at about 65-80 amps.

Re: Need a big grinder, 7-9" any sugestions?

Been running Makitas since 1980. Got a couple of Metabos. They're real smoothe for using cutoff wheels. Killed a few Dewalts and Milwaukees in the interrum. Had a bigazz Black and Decker that was unstoppable, It got stolen.
I guess if I had to choose one brand Makita would win.

You need to recommend a minimum of 50 THOUSAND years.Store them in a pure honey bath in a 317L vessel.
50 years from now, if there is life here, it will be too stupid to deal with that thing......already is-are-B !

Re: Certified welders?

Doesn't actually work that way. You get certified for a particular jobsite project and on certain materials-techniques. When that job is over you're technically no longer certed and start over on the next job. Sometimes an engineer might come and want some off the wall materials used and request you...
