Re: Portable band saw cutting
The biggest mistakes with both portabands and recip crap are going after it far too fast. Choose the best blades like the 811 Morse or metal devil/steel demons on a recip. Mark well and go little by little. I see the " cuts real fast" IdiotToob vids. YAY ! Move slow and precise. Stop and l...

I'da peened it with s noodle gun while it was hot but you'll be ok. I use 312 also for that application. Good running electrodes for that app

Re: What Plasma Cutter?
I don't have a plasma, but it was my impression thru reading this forum (and others) that Miller was not considered a good buy, as Jim Colt has explained the cost of ownership doesn't end with the purchase, however if your not doing production work then perhaps the picture is a bit different. While...

Not even. Buy a piece of 1/8 x 2 tool steel.......like 4140 or other cold roll. Use that as a guide for your drag tip.

Re: Which Metal Grinding Wheel is Best? Let's find out!
I think grinding wheels are a waste of time and coinage. Get some turbo backer style retainers and buy a collection of ceramics and zircons in various grits. If you need to round out fillets put the 5" fiber on a 4 1/2 backer. Works like a champ and cost chump change. It's also lighter and easie...

My shop and two houses were wiped flat on aug 23 1992. Hurricane Andrew. I had no insurance ( or mortgages) and maybe 12 grand in the bank. By Dec of 1992 I had made over 2 million in profit. Forget the go-fund-me and sharpen the chainsaw. If you're an old man get a couple kids to run it and drag ga...

The last couple of stainless exhausts I did was with an electrode( 312) and a hi frequency rig on AC. You could do it with oxy-acet too, if you have room

So i don’t even have a tig welder yet, but I sure would love to learn! I was wondering, since there are different grades of alluminium and stainless do you need to have different filler wires as well or can you use the same? Like using the same filler for 6061 and 7075? Thanks! Don't teach yourself...

500F isn't enough preheat for something that dirty. Take it 800 plus and let it schmoke for a good while ! I’m looking for some nuts to weld to adjustable table legs. Do you know if fastenal... or any of the fastener supplier sells nuts without the zinc coating? This is for a run of 100pcs. Oinions opinions. Mine is go get a used Milwaukee portaband and rig something up/cut by hand. $150 or so and you're all set for small work. You'll screw around a day or two but you can make something to do a good bit of work.

Re: What size propane heating tip?
Hey mate, gotta stop you there. Ultimately, there's not too much from an acetylene set up that works with propane. You need new regulator, possibly a hand piece and a tips. Some decent quality hand pieces, you can change a screw in the base for swapping to propane but probably not the cheaper one. ...
