Re: 6010 With an Everlast PowerArc 200st

My 200st was acting up one time and I finally noticed I had the switch fliped to tig. Hard to weld right wit the switch on tig.

Re: Welding Rod Of Choice!!!

I would go with the guys that said 7018 3/32 , this is a hard rod to beat and I would also include 6011 in both 1/8 and 3/32.
Many times I use a 6011 and cap it with 7018 and you get the best properties of both rods.

You could just not have a good ground connection . try cleaning your ground clamp.

Re: Machine. It making an arc

What you are describing sounds like a loose connection in either your stinger or your ground clamp.
Disconnect the leades and check with an ohm meter. You are getting some current but it appears to be marginal.
Sometimes the lead in the stinger will work its way loose. hope this helps.

Re: Looking for a relatively inexpensive SMAW DC machine

I have a Everlast's Powerarc 200 st 120/220 volt. On 220 the duty cycle is 60% @ 160 Amps and 100% @130 amps.
I am well pleased with this welder but I do not use this welder for my livelihood.

Re: Tomato cages

Bet that was tedious! I'd love to see pics, and wish you'd done a vid. Did you weld every vertical bar? Or perhaps welded two circumferential bars? Please explain/inform! I welded each vertical bar, by overlapping them an inch and welding in between and the travel speed is fast. I used an angle gri...

Tomato cages

I have some old concrete wire cages that I keep cutting off the bottom ring as they get older. I decided to extend the height buy cutting some of them up and welding them together. They ended up about 8 feet tall and look pretty good. I used 6013 1/16 at 40 amps and electrode negative, very carefull...

Re: Getting started with stick... rod selection?

I would use 6011 either Hobart or Linc elec, HOBART is probably easier to use and I would get some 7018 excal.

Use the 6011 on rust and come back with the 7018 on top.

I am going to help my neighbor repair his wood heater and the damper shaft needs to be replaced . the shaft is made of .5 inch round stock. My question is ,what type of steel ? Re: Utp612

Forget the 6010.
I would follow the instructions on disconnecting the battery and I would use 7018 between 75- 85 amps.
I would practice weld a sample of the material You plan on using as a Patch , before the actual weld.

Re: new stinger and ground clamp

calixt0,

I replaced both my stinger and Ground clamp with the Harbor F 400 amp Stinger and the brass clamp.

I am pleased with both although the stinger is a little bulky I like it now. Both seem to get the Job done.

If you get the ground clamp use a hose clamp in place of that cheap ring.

I have been looking at the powerarc 300, i like the fact that you can adjust the arc force and hot start.
Does anyone have one of these machines or have a coment?

Re: Success stories of Harbor Freight 91110 inverter?

Jawon,

I have a small inverter a little larger than the one you have (Not HF) but of similar origin. I have enjoyed my welder
and for thin material try a couple of 1/16 6013 Rods on DC ENEG. Let me know what you think.

Re: 7018AC rod problem

Last time I looked wal-mart they did not have the 7018 rod made specifically for AC. Try Lowes or Home depot they both carry the 7018 AC rods and they usually have 1/8 and 3/32. They do all work better on DC.

Well, I had a chance to give this an honest try tonight. I got the rod to light several times. Stuck it a few times, but overall, it sucked. I figured out what is happening. First off, the Hobart rods are not in an oven. I'm not sure if this is the entire reason, but I believe the flux is t...

Mick,

What amperage is it getting hot ? Are the leads too small or maybe a bad place in the leads.
