Re: Is this the result of improper gas flow or unclean metal
Yup, likely improper gas flow, unless the gas is contaminated in the first place. Rare but does happen at times. Only way to know for sure is to make sure everything else is 100% confirmed perfect.

Re: new to tig stainless
Your cup is a limiting factor. I would not weld stainless with less than a #8 and only that small if it were out of position piping. For flat, lap, or tubing a #10-#12 all day long with a quality gas lens. 92 amps is high heat unless your travel speed is fast enough. Hard to do for new welders. Als...

Re: Getting cooled! What torch #20 or #18?
I recently purchased a Weldtec 20 series watercooled torch. I got the flex head, rated 225 amps. Fairly cheap and much nicer than the air cooled 26,I was using. So much lighter and cooler! The ck flexlok does look like a very maneuverable torch too! and the weldtec has the roto head type as well. 2...

Re: Getting cooled! What torch #20 or #18?
20 all the way. all the cups will fit it. except the ones he has for his FL150 I looked at the water cooled flex loc, I wast really impressed. There is no coolant passages in the head. In its air-cooled state its a neat torch that's very versatile. I think for my skill set, I would be better served...

Re: 6013 ductility?
Ductility is a materials rating dictating how well it can be drawn into wire. Elongation is what you are looking for. There is no way to tell with the information you are giving. The bend radius will have a major impact, as well as the final cross-sectional area. Care to disclose more information?

Re: Porosity, mild steel
Perhaps the threads on the regulator or the internal threads on the tank valve were compromised somehow, and the teflon tape did indeed help? Tough to say, but so long as it's fixed that's all that matters. I actually had to do something similar with a couple acetylene tanks. They were swaps and had...

Re: Getting cooled! What torch #20 or #18?
You can order a water-cooled Flex-loc with either the FL2L or the F3L head. The F2L supports 230A, and the FL3L (the same as what you currently have on your FL150) supports 250A. If you get the one with the FL2L head, you'll need what CK calls "2-series", aka what everyone else calls 20-se...

I do know of one, and it's $900 less than your threshold. HTP's Invertig 221 is $2600 and goes down to 4A in DC and 10A in AC. Stellar performance for the money.alexweeks1996 wrote:However, I don't know of any machine under $3,500 or so that has great low end performance.

Tot he people saying use the dynasty to arc gouge.. would you not be worried about damaging the machine? I'm under the impression it can be rough on the machines, dynasty is big $$ to screw up As far as stick welding goes though I'd just plug into the dynasty and use that I wouldn’t. Use it as its ...

I just checked out their manual for that machine to see if I could help you. What a joke (the manual) ! They expect YOU to do do the R&D work an engineer would typically have to do to work out the appropriate pulse parameters! 8 pages explaining how pulse works and I thought it would be followed...

Man that’s a big setup there. Maybe I will just bite the bullet and go with with Hypertherm recommends for it. Anyone have any experience with that one? The hypertherm filter is quite steep for what it is. You're better off spending a little more for a much better system that filters and actually d...

Re: Table top pulled, needs replaced.
3/16" for a top is way too thin anyways. 3/8" is what I would do if I needed to, maybe 1/2" if I could score a good deal on it. As for securing it, use counter-sunk bolts so that way there is nothing protruding on the top, and you don't have to weld the top to anything.

If you take proper safety precautions and study up and read how to use every thing, it is safe. I use it at home. Of course I only use it when I absolutely need to, such as cutting a thick piece of steel that is too thick for my current plasma cutter or I cant get into the bandsaw, or need to heat s...

I'm actually going to buy a 3-Φ/400V stick/gouging machine, but it is not at the power level you're looking for. It's brand new machine from Stel in Italy. The vast majority of their larger machines are 3-Φ/400V.
