I'm no expert, but from what I've seen most people, with the right root and landing, crank up the heat and shove it in and drag. This is a good one for Otto Nobedder, cause I've read some of his posts and thats what he does. Check out FieldRes on YouTube and xAZAZELx13 as well, both show down hand ...

Well this might not help but if you have a big arc welder like a 300+ you could get some tig leads an argon, then put the tig lead on the positive and switch it to DC-. That's what I do.

A hot pass generally doesn't mean your temp has to be higher....it's called that because it needs to be a good solid bead.

Ok so I'm going to be a pipeline welder but still in HS, an we're building pipe welding stations now. First, what is the general type/size for rods on the pipeline? Second, what is the term down hand? Also, what do the roots consist of......like how big is the gaps and what are the roots? 6010? GTAW...

Does anybody know where I can get one of these it gets there even called?
