Re: Another one of those "Aussies"
Well now I will have to try welding upside down, if Steve can do it, so can I :D (don't know if I want to post the pictures though) At least I got the motor right. Looks like a great project. Very unique using the RB25DET motor. Over here you might not get good responses from a Goodguys show becaus...

Re: Another one of those "Aussies"
We do it the same as you guys up there, but because we are down under we do it all upside down lol-FJ RB25 LOL that would make a great video. Here you go Jody, make a welding video welding upside down. As most of us know we do get into some awkward positions from time to time. So I assume the FJ is...

everybody needs to see this!!!!!
That gas saver looks like a very good item to have. Love the quick start and no need for setting up each time. Saves you having the gas torch going while you make the bends These gas cutting torches are the ones we mainly see over here in Oz, you guys would more than likely have see these before htt...

Re: Steam pipe manifold construction
In Canada, titanium pipes are becoming popular. I've found some titanium headers at the metal recyclers and they are very, very light weight. The funny part is, that the recyclers think that they are stainless steel, so I buy them for a buck a pound. A quick spark test will tell you if it is stainl...

Re: Steam pipe manifold construction
321 stainless hey, worth a look around I guess and would look a lot sexier than the old steam pipe.
I think that all these cheap Chinese manifolds have given the old Stainless a bit of a bad rap over here.
Wyatt Swaim is a legend, have seen some of his videos, be good to know half of what he knows

Steam pipe manifold construction
Im not saying it doesn't have its purpose, because it does, its just not something I personally would do. Steam pipe definitely would retain thermal energy much better than thin wall stainless or steel tubing, but as Steve said, its heavy! And I know they are used the world over, I just giggle at t...

I know you guys say you wouldn't plump your crapper with that pipe but over here in Australia as well as New Zealand everybody I mean everybody uses this pipe, oh and these manifolds made out of this pipe are exported all over the place including the good old U S of A as well for roughly twice the p...

Re: Steam pipe manifold construction
That's great, thank you for the link to those videos, will be having a very close look in the morning. Stainless or mild steel as you have said the basic process is the same. It's making the jig etc that is a big part of getting the manifold accurate and as you said the joints are very important too...

Steam pipe manifold construction
Ok I'm not familiar the the term steam pipe manifold. Did a search and all results were Australia and New Z. Is there something that makes it different from a normal manifold or is it just a term you normally use? What material are you gonna try to make this out of? I guess it must be an Australian...

Steam pipe manifold construction
Hi all
I'm about to attempt my first steam
Pipe exhaust manifold for a turbo 2.5L Nissan motor into my old Holden.
I have ordered the 6 into 1 collector with T3 flange and the manifold to head plate
Anyone attempted this before and what tips do you have.
Cheers

Thank you for the welcome guys I am really looking forward to learning this new skill and should be getting my new Tig on Thursday next week. The Tig I am getting isn't an expensive one but should be good enough for the turbo manifold, sump modifications and induction pipe for my project. After a lo...
