Re: Calibration of Tig weld.

Is it just me, or does the amazon picture that comes up when you google that have a welding mode called "easy"? I've never heard of that before haha. What's it do?? Going through the buttons: Up-down buttons -First one selects the process (not sure which process "easy" is though)...

Re: Black stuff on square tubing

Acetone seems to be like a decent go to. Cuts through grease and everything pretty well. Definitely wanna make sure it's all evaporated before you start welding though haha. Also probably want some gloves and eye protection at the least as well as a well ventilated area.

Re: High Frequency - HF Start Bypass

Soutthpaw, Thanks for the response to the thread. I don't think I jumped down your throat and didn't mean to come off like that. I simply said sorry for wasting your time and that I would go do research on the topic elsewhere. Your initial response to my pm made it sound like it was a ridiculous que...

Re: High Frequency - HF Start Bypass

entity-unknown, nope, I haven't gotten fancy on additional grounding and I haven't driven any copper rods outside. I'd have to get someone out to tell me where the utility lines are located before I got going on that. Poland308, it is an inverter machine. So, you think that means the machine just ma...

Re: High Frequency - HF Start Bypass

I guess I don't have conclusive evidence on the HF frying things either, but it just so happens that after I was welding with an HF start machine all of the pictures on my phone disappeared. I pulled the SD card and tried to get it to read and nothing would happen. The whole card was corrupt and cou...

High Frequency - HF Start Bypass

Hey everybody, I have a bit of an odd question. I own a 2016 AHP AlphaTIG 200x. The machine only comes with HF start. I was fully aware of this when I bought it and don't regret it at all. For most applications, this is a great feature to have. However, if I end up wanting to do work around any elec...

Re: Wire wheel bench grinder cleaning

Thanks everyone for the input, the knowledge base on this forum is awesome. Couple of quick questions now though. Has anyone heard of anything similar to the poisoning that happened with the break cleaner happening with the TSP? Or, is it just safer and a better option to use this over break cleaner...

Wire wheel bench grinder cleaning

Hello all, quick question for the forums. Is there a proper way to clean a wire wheel on a bench grinder? Background information: I use a bench grinder with a wire wheel on it to take off the factory coating from the milling process on my steel so that I get cleaner welds. The problem is, I have a l...
