Re: Trike Projects

Pat, Yes, it's a Porsche 914 engine, "W" block 1.7L. I also used a 914 side shifter transaxle, as it has the correct rotation and 5 speeds (mid engine car). Not all VW IRS transaxles can have the ring gear installed on the other side, which has to be done, unless you really want 4 reverse ...

Re: Hiring A Class Aluminum Structural Welders and Fitters

I have worked as a pipefitter in the past, however, I am currently working as an A-class fitter in the Fab dept, not pipe. I work whatever the company is hiring at the time, and Aluminum is one of my fav metals to work with, so I hired in with Fabrication. Fab builds the hull units and assembles the...

Re: Trike Projects

Steve, There was no "theme" of the first trike other than get my disabled friend some safe transportation. The theme of the trike before the rebuild was "garbage". I donated all my time and a large amount of material and parts. The rectangular saddlebags are from and old ...

This pic shows the beginning ...

Trike Projects

I've looked at a lot of projects here and a great percentage of them are extremely basic projects. I have been involved in metal fabrication for over 30 years mostly as a fitter. My fabrication ski...

Re: Hiring A Class Aluminum Structural Welders and Fitters

I'm new here, but not to metal fabrication. 34 years now, mainly on the Gulf Coast, although I did go overseas once to do some XX-heavy Incalloy 825 pipefitting. I currently work at Austal at the Final Assembly yard. Been here 3 years now. Austal builds aluminum Littoral Combat Ships and JSHV catama...

Hello

I'm Marcie. New to the Forum, not new to metal fabrication. Started the metal career in 79 @ Electric Boat Quonset Point RI, after growing up in the home building trades working for my father. Moved south to get away from the cold and have worked building oil rigs, production platforms, chemical pla...
