FS AWS WHB Handbook

All 5 WHB's up for sale. Like new condition Ninth edition First volume's binding has been a serious issue. After the 3rd replacement of not getting it right from AWS I took the liberty of gluing it with urethane adhesive to keep the pages from falling out. I think 500$ is a fair price, really don't ...

Need Tips & Tricks on Overhead Fillet

We are in a situation where we need flat pad eye's placed on inside of cone that is setup at a 45 degree angle. We have a 10 ton cap or more, but I cannot seem to remember how (if I ever knew how) to place a good bead at that overhead/vertical up travel...? Does anyone on here have any recommendatio...

Re: Copper nickel- tig welding pipe

I have watched several guys at my shop weld monel 400 with a preheat of around 200F or more. We are advised at my job to generally keep nickel alloys with a preheat. Im not sure if copper nickel necessarily needs it. Could be more of an issue with dissamilar joining. The puddle can be a little slugg...

Hey turbo, If I were in your shoes I wouldnt stop looking to find any door that could open up for the Engineering field. If you have the experience for entry level entrepreneurship/job- go for it. I guess if you understand the types of weld testing, metallurgy, and blueprint design/fitup why not sta...

an old timer that use show me some things used these gloves that no longer exist called "Good Luck". Extremely easy to feel what you hold, had decent dexterity. But overall had the best average feel for a cheap glove. Probably one of the best to feed filler rod I have used. The company was...

I too have had terrible and severe pain at times at work, sleep, and morning times. I have to deal with it- but figure I will enlighten as the rest have already told you about; Because students need a job, I feel that this is at the worst time possible to have these issues. Hot Root Crack Help- Inco 82

This was my first time welding with Inconel filler for TIG. I have SA387 GR22 (2 1/4 chrome) welded to 304H. There isn't much of a WPS other than what the inspectors want me to create. My preheat has to maintain 300+ F during welding. I have 1" thick 18"x6" double bevel plate test. I ...

Ok, thx for the help.
The chart taped to the wall was for blue shield.

I will have to get the ID sticker from the bottle because it does not list the mixture on it.

Ok Steve, Since I have a photobucket I will just embed the IMG tag. I have come to realize that I am probably getting more of consumable problem then most times. I believe that I am getting the nozzle and tip too close to the weld causing all the heat build up and burn back to destroy the contact ti...

Re: Spray Vs. Short Circuit???

I'll get back with you guys on gas. There is a chart in the parts house, I just could not match it up. If I remember correctly I thought it was like Blue(something) #211. Which was I think 75-argon 15co2 10helium. I am def getting a lot of burn back at times. And at other times beautiful welds. Some...

Maybe u guys can help me out. Off topic I came here for a tip considering the discussion of spray arc. I am using 80series wire .045 with 26.3V, and 307 ipm. Was told to keep it around there. Also, I am making a 1/2" fillet on 8" 1/2"wall tubing to 1" thick plate. I get good weld...

Re: "Lincoln Locker "

I'll have to admit, it is quite hilarious to see what has been done... and apparently (from the guy using it) it has held up to the torsion on the hardened gears. I did one in 2011 with flux core on a Clarke 160en. I actually used 5/16's or 3/8's plate and preheated like hell. Its pretty ugly and a ...

This isn't a personal review of any sort, but rather a question to any WTAT member that may have possibly purchased and/or used the Alloweld lens. Re: Kennametal Stellite#6 issues

Ok so are these hardfacing alloys ok with a crossways crack?
Came in next morning and as I continued to overlay next set of flats I heard some tings.

The cracks are generally at the restarts and are about 1" length just perpendicular.

Ya I had 20gauge to 20 gauge 316l laps. It was retarded It was on the main runner for exhaust. Also instead of saddling up the pipe for a 90 tee, I had to work with a 2'x2' 20g sheet. I had to beat the hell out of it after I got some tacks in just to get a tight fit. It was awful to work with. 1/4&q...

Moose, I too am working on mastering walking the cup. The most frustrating thing to me is how long it is taking. I normally don't struggle long with things but this is a task. I agree with Rick, work on flat welding first. I started there as well and then said "I got it" and moved on to 2...
