If you get good fit up with minimal gaps that helps make a good strong joint. I slip pipes through the joint with one pipe in the vice and bend the other pipe if the tube fails but the join remains intact you have a successful joint. Never welded magnesium but it is 1/3 the density of aluminium so drop through from too much heat is always a chance.

The metal is the easy bit making the templates is the tricky bit, I make a 3D template from cardboard (and sticky tape) so I can check clearence of kick starts and fairings. I don't have any pics of that but just imagine the pipe in cardboard :lol:

Hello

Hello from Australia.

Everyone calls me Lozza, I mainly weld motorcycle exhausts (2 stroke expansion chambers) for fun :D and a hobby. I will be looking to improve my aluminum welding as I don't do enough of it. Also want to get a good internal purging set up to do Ti.
