Re: Inverter TIG/Stick and Carbon Air Arc

Hi Otto, I know I am on the edge for power. I can work around that. What I need to know is how a IGBT inverter will handle a carbon arc? IE the electronics? Compared to a transformer machine. I don't want to damage it. I can also stay under the duty cycle. I don't want to drive over 100miles one way...

Inverter TIG/Stick and Carbon Air Arc

Hi All, I need some opinions on using a inverter machine for some carbon Air Arc gouging. Not interested in this brand will that brand won't. I don't have my SA 200 pipeliner anymore as that would be my first choice. I have about 8 to 10 feet of weld to gouge, remove plate and replace. Welder specs ...

Re: Arc Climbing the Tungsten

Hello All, I have been Heli-Arc, OOPS< TIG welding since 1976 and it still amazes me what I forget to do and then fight a problem. I have only welded with Inverter TIG machines for a few years, before that just transformer machines. What I have noticed is the inverters are a lot more sensitive to th...

Re: 2% lanthanated tungsten and aluminum

HI AKrider, I think Len nailed it. The only thing I can add is you need your post flow set to at least 10-12 seconds. For 3/32 to have enough time to cool. I think you mentioned 6 seconds. For the grainey tip try backing your AC frequency down to 120hz at 180amps. I get the same thing at higher freq...

New OLD GREY GUY,RETIRED (OGG'R)

Good Afternoon, I am looking forward to being here. Seems like a way above average group of great and helpful people. I started welding in 1972 and for a job 1978. I am also a machinist and all of my welding tied in with that field and repair. Top fuel drag cars to observatory telescopes, hydroelect...

Re: Everlast digital vs analog

Afternoon All, Here's how I see it. I started to Heli-Arc in 1976(didn't hear TIG much then) I'm a Old Grey Guy' Retired. OGG'R for you guy's with less miles. :) Picked up a 250EX analog about 6 months ago and am on my 3rd 330cf cyl of argon. Mostly 180to max amp output. New car smell did not last l...

Re: TIG Pen

A little background I know on these. They were invented by a guy in Summit County Colorado. I worked for the Breckenridge Ski resort and he had me try a prototype around 1989 or 1990. I still have it somewhere. Gave him some feedback, then he gave me an ingraved one with my name on it for helping hi...
