Need opinion on purchase
Looking for opinions (actually justification!) for a possible purchase. I need to build another table, approx 30" x 60". Local craigslist ad, 50" x 84" x 3/4" steel plate, 250.00. Great deal, just a lot of extra steel. Gotta be approx 850lbs to transport and move around unti...

Re: Ideas to Power 220v Welder Temporarily
You dont have a 220 outlet, assuming you have 110 there? If so, you can make a 220 temp. I have the Lincoln 180, and 50A breaker is way more than you need, especially if only doing tacks. Meant to ask - is there a breaker box?

Re: Whats the deal over at Welding Web?
There is a post on the Weld.com forum, in off-topic area, explaining the problem with WW, server problems.
Internals Everlast vs Invertig, same comparison as KIA vs rolls royce, one costs a lot more, but main concern is does it get the job done

People on a few forums are asking the same question. Started out as "maintenance" issue, now forbidden/no access. I read someone msg'd the mods there, they don't know whats up either.cornmuse wrote:Anybody know whats going on over at Welding Web?? Been "forbidden" for a few days now.

Would you even have a flame without oxygen in a vacuum? Deep stuff to think about.

Same problem. Just bought another ADF helmet. My Lincoln hood was solar, after too many yrs, too many recharge cycles, was getting undependable, getting flashed way too many times. Supposed to get my new Antra helmet tomorrow. $100.00, 1/1/1/1 clarity.

Re: AHP Everlast customer lack of support
I have an AHP Alpha TIG 200x (2017 model). First off, I'm new to welding, and the Alpha TIG is the only welder I've ever used. so I don't have much to compare it to. Actually I don't have anything to compare it to. That being said, I've had some issues with the HF start. It didn't always start, unl...

Re: Unstable AC Arc on low current
At that low current I would go down to 1/16 electrode. Carry current better at low settings. Sorry, but this is not accurate. For some video proof, please watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GJBESqEvLY Perhaps on some older, less capable machines it was, but with any modern TIG box, the tu...

I don't know how different it is from the weld pak 180, but the tapped voltage settings work pretty good, just fine tune the wire feed speed, assuming yours isnt tapped.

Were you a little nervous using the angle grinder (sparks) to cut it? I dont know if it is the same as a gasoline tank, as far as fumes left in the tank.burnttoast wrote:nope there's no gas in it. I used my angle grinder on it.

Amazon price also went up, 30.00. Mine was ordered 1/9, should have it by 1/17, shipping from California to NY. I've learned my lesson, no more emails. I've been having pretty good luck with phone calls, sales and tech support. The Tech number is an East coast number so its nice to be able to speak with someone during EST hours.weldin mike 27 wrote:Emails can get lost, so make sure you activate the read receipt function.

Re: AHP Everlast customer lack of support
Deal is done. I SPOKE with an AHP sales person earlier today. Latest shipment arrived earlier than the expected 2/15 date. Web site sells the Alphatig 200x for 800.00, but AHP is selling through Amazon for 680.00, promotional price, same exact machine. Needless to say, I went for the Amazon price. 3...

Not true for all machines. On my Everlast Powerultra 200p, if you set the rocker switch to pedal, instead of panel, it doesn't matter what the panel knob is set at, the pedal has full range of amps. I've read that most machines don't do that, just giving an example of one that does behave that way....

I never knew there was a minimum temp for storing equipment. I assumed it was no different than any other electronic device. i related it to a car as an example, the stereos, car computer, etc, all have capacitors and all the other components on a circuit board, and they stay out in temps below zero...

We all have a wish list, but then reality kicks in. Being retired on disability, looking for a Hobby/side job machine is def limited budget-wise. Machines i'm looking at are in the $750 - $1100 range. The 200DV and AlphaTig 200 fit spec-wise and dollar-wise, just trying to choose one over the other.
