Re: How can welders help with virus?
Get everybody together and weld up the tallest fence all around the country. Weld up the gates at airports, sea ports, etc. Deal with who has the virus already in the U.S, until they figure out where the virus came from, and how to cure it. Doable? Dunno, but you asked what welders can do to help.

Heck if you want to see better a 500 watt halogen work light placed correctly nearby always was my go to. Otherwise outside in bright daylight . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Yeah, just trying to avoid the suntan/heat lamp effect from a 500 watt halogen. I'll come out looking like a McDonalds fr...

Re: Do Newer Welding Helmets Really Let You See More?
I recently moved some lights in my shop, now ambient lighting from behind me is messing up my vision. I like the idea of the hood velcroed to the helmet. Some of the BSX welding jackets have a removable hood. But looks like they are only only fire-resistant, not fire-proof. Any problems with sparks...

Re: Do Newer Welding Helmets Really Let You See More?
I haven't used the Lincoln, but Optrel is up there without a doubt. The best thing for visibility are new clean inner & outer clear lenses, and not letting light enter from the back of the helmet. For the latter, the best investment I have done is getting the BSX hooded welding jacket, and addi...

Re: Welding Helmet Reccomendation
I don't remember the name of the website - google "Antra" welding helmet. I recently bought one from them. Top numbers on clarity, etc. Priced pretty reasonable, approx $100-120.00, model AH7-X90 . Large viewing area, Auto darkening. Not the high quality build, etc, but works very good. Ma...

Re: Keep my MIG Spool gun for 140A welder?
No help? Let me expound. I am thinking that a spool gun on only a 110V 140A Mig machine would be too limiting for Aluminum welding. Not enough power for 1/8 or above and not optimum for much thinner material. I would end up using TIG for anything aluminum and hardly would want to use the Spool gun....

I agree. I have had good dealings with the AHP tech people, give it a shot.Simclardy wrote:I think you are looking at some type of electronic component failure. Call the company and see if there are some basic test you can do to isolate the issue

Re: Popping sound while tig aluminum
Hi, first post. Really like Jody's videos. I bought a AHP Alpha Tig 201XD recently and have been practicing with it this week mainly on AC and 1/16 6061 sheet. Just running beads for now. I have zero experience tig welding. Pretty good with a MIG and O/A torch. Anyway, I keep getting popping sounds...

Re: AHP 201XD Troubleshooting
Somewhat of a similar problem with HF. Could be the 3000 mile ship ride, or a Monday morning/Friday afternoon employee, I needed to adjust the gap on the HF points, also make sure they are properly aligned. Pretty straightforward, easy job, also can't hurt to at least check the gap now and again, so...

I blame the increase in the bill on the kids and the grandkids (they live with us for now). Ya know, they seem to always be running the A/C too much, fans and TV on all day and night, etc. Hate to throw them under the bus, but hey, someones gotta take the heat. Better them than me, LOL

If you are trying to tack them end to end, try to use a little overlap, instead of a butt joint.

As dopey as it sounds, I really don't remember if it was my Everlast or my AHP, but I had a small problem (again, dopey, don't remember what). but I called Tech about it, and was told not to worry about voiding the warranty by opening the case to fix it, guess it was better to them, rather than send...

sschefer, I have the 200, I don't think there are too many major changes from the 200 to the 201, except maybe the foot pedal. I disagree, I think the AHP is suitable for beginners. It doesn't have all the digital menu options, preset program settings, etc, but it is still pretty easy to figure out....

"TIG welding, or tungsten insulated gas welding" Man, you have to at least know the proper terminology - inert, not insulated

Have seen this posted other places, question is are you creating a website, or a forum? Big difference, especially if you need to ask if your post is in the right place.

Grind/sand off a spot on the body where you can put your ground(work) clamp, and clean a spot where you can weld the tab, or just clean up different places on the body for the clamp

Never tried it with Tig, after finding out how magnets affect my Mig arc. If you use a 90deg magnet to hold pcs together, etc, try and tack as far from the magnet as possible.

Re: Multi-Process welder, multi-gas question
My 2 cents - Yes, if you use a Y fitting, with shutoff valves on both inputs. You will have to purge when switching functions. I do the same thing with my Everlast, except I use Quick disconnect fittings between air, argon, and C25
