4943 TIG Rods

Anyone have a good source online to purchase them? My LWS wants to sell me 20lbs at $6/lb. I don't think I'd use that much...

Tig torch question....

I have the flex loc 230 torch and when I pull the long back cap off, I do this more often then not, the oring seems to get damaged. It seems to hang up when I pull it off, so it keeps getting damaged. I tried taking the damaged one off of another cap I have, but it broke in half VERY easily when I t...

CK FLex Loc 230 Consumables

I was wondering if any other brands make parts that fit the FL230 or not. Most of the LWSs in my area carry other brands and have to special order the CK stuff. Where do you order your consumables from online? I am mostly going to be welding aluminum would it be ok just to order some spare gas saver...

Re: A little boat repair.

Just started aluminum. Really just started tig. Thanks. The boat was a pain to start, but once I got about an inch of bead it went good. I started back further than the crack to I could get a good consistent bead.

Re: A little boat repair.

Oh yeah, it was EXTREMELY thin.

1/16 2% Lanthanated
40 amps foot pedal controlled
#6 cup with gas saver
3/32 filler <--- didn't have 1/16

A little boat repair.

So, I figured I was good enough with aluminum tig to start a small repair for a friend that rescued a boat out in the bay. This is a very salty aluminum boat. To say the least it was corroded. I cleaned the area up real good and gave it my best. I still have to weld the inside of the crack, but here...

Re: What causes the tungsten to do this?

Thanks for the tips. I want to be clear that the tungsten didn't do that when I tried to ball it, but throughout the welds. I don't know if you can see it from the pics, but it looks and feels kind of rough and spiky. I did just start today, I have watched some videos before starting, which helped. ...

What causes the tungsten to do this?

It's about dang time!

My new Everlast 250EX has finally arrived. Now it's time to get some seat time and get to welding up all of our aluminum boats. We have plenty of cracks to practice on. Image
