Interesting Clamps !!!

I made these from a thread that I saw on another welding website. I thought they were useful enough for a revisit. Some of the materials you will more than likely have on hand. The ball bearings are 1". In the first pic it is hard to see but there is an angle welded at the top. I also have a ho...

What does the 5P+ and 6P+ designate?

Re: Lincoln Square Wave 200

For me......mig and tig.......depending on the application. Don't use stick very often. Tig is sometimes too slow over mig.

Slatted Welding Table Conversion!!!

So I took the solid top off of my welding table and converted it to a slatted design. I like how it turned out. I managed to get the table level along the horizontal supports within about .050". Then I went diagonal......one way is level the other shows about 3/32" or so gap. If I tried to...

Re: Spoolgun Extension???

Finally......just built one. I had a whip from a Lincoln mig welder. I took it and soldered a barb for gas transfer and tapped and plugged the end that the liner gets anchored. The other end I machined a female connector out of brass. I did the same soldered barb. Both ends have a #1 welding cable s...

Re: Spoolgun Extension???

I have a Lincoln SG 100 MAGNUM spoolgun. This works pretty well with my Lincoln 180 amp mig welder. Is there any possible way to make an extension for it? I would like to have more than 10 ft. of power lead. It's basically electrical power and gas flow. Only way I can see is machining a male fittin...

Mcmaster-Carr has a similar pendent switch......price is about $18 or so. I have several on different welders and they work great.

Re: Question On Aluminum Tig Welding???

That's an awfully wide area of cleaning. Where do you have your ac balance set? It almost looks like you're burning back some type of clear coat. If it's not the things you brought up, I usually see a wide cleaning band like that when someone uses too little amperage and "cooks it" waitin...

Question On Aluminum Tig Welding???

I have some parts that I tack welded for work. Don't know the grade of metal. Welding .125 to .052. I started the weld on the thicker piece and washed it over to the thinner metal. For this application tacks are all that is needed. My question is what causes the black soot. It seems to be more prono...

The tip is what transfers the electric to the wire......wouldn't going with a bigger tip lack some contact to the wire?

I have one and it is a decent machine for a Newby to learn on. Of course this all depends on the asking price.

Trying Find A Video.

Jody did a video back in 2012 where he made a 3 leg shop stool. The seat portion of the video was on a different video. I cannot find that video. Any help is appreciated.

Video Request!

I find it interesting when Jody cuts and etches a weld to determine penetration. What I would like to see is a side by side comparison between stick, mig and tig on penetration.

Thought I Would Give It A Go!

After seeing CK's Steady Grip/ Pistol Grip I thought it was a good idea......but at $285 I am not that interested. I had a sheet of plastic (might be Delrin) 5/8" thick so I thought I would try and make my own. Mine doesn't have amperage control but you can see that it will work with a pendent ...
