hey ive done this countless times on the expesive dc machines in school. but at the house with my ac only lincoln tombstone im having trouble running vertical up. i can run em side to side no problem. i have some 7018 ac rods and some 6013's both kinda suck for uphill. is that common for ac or do i ...

looking for work in new york

newbie welder here looking for work. hard worker and im really eager to learn. decent at stick and mig. I passed my 3/8 plate tests overhead and vertical. will work for cheap. Im just trying to get some experience.

Thanks for all the comments. i worked with a dc welder for about 3 months and passed a few practice certs vertical and overhead with the 3/8th plates. I also did a 1 inch plate but never got to test it. but that was about 2 months ago now so i wanted to get a little more time in before i go for the ...

being that ac is harder to weld with, when i do use a dc machine it should be pretty easy for me right?

Thanks Jim. i figured that. Im on the lookout for a better machine. how about the 7018 rods meant for ac units? you have any experience with them? or any tips and getting a decent weld outta the ac machine. the welds im laying now are decent but nowhere as good as if i were using the dc unit.
